I am new to researching geneological data and presently use the net as my exclusive source. If anyone post queries requesting info on John Briggs Sr.et al,.of Taunton, Mass. , (1600's), I'l l be glad to post what I have compiled to date. It seems that the Briggs family in time, migrated to parts of Mass. and Vermont, and then later some members migrated to Texas, and MN. Also I want to see if I can cull some info about James Briggs who served under Capt. John Leonard in the Colonial wars in the campaign against Canada. April 11, 1757. Subsequently, James Briggs became a Deacon and moved to Guilford, VT. after the Revolution. James was by trade a tanner. His wife a descendant of Nicholas White. The will of Deacon James Briggs was executed at Guildford, Vt. January 17, 1793. Gideon Briggs served in the American Revolution as a "Minuteman" 1778 He was a corporal in the American Revolution. 1778 I need to work on the how to's of accessing war record .......... Yes, I personally enjoyed the piece on King Phillip's War. I like to hear the background of some of the things that have happened to my ancestors...and how it affected their lives. That almost makes them come alive again---in a way. I grew up in Massachusetts and seem to remember a highway that was named after King Phillip. Am I wrong? Cynthia, I want to let you know how much I appreciate the postings you make. I have saved all of the ones relating to King Philips War. I have also saved the ones from "Inscriptions on the Grave Stones in the Grave Yards of Northampton and other towns in the Valley of the Connecticut as Springfield, Amherst, Hadley,Hatfield, Deerfield &c with brief annals of Northampton" by Thomas Bridgman, 1850. However, I don't have all of those postings (only 2/3, 3 and 6). I have gone to the archives, 1999 and 2000, but can't find the others. Do you recall when they were posted or what their title was? I have searched for Northampton, gravestones, inscriptions, and several other key words. Any suggestions? Perhaps someone on the list has copies of the posts I am missing that they could email me?
