The author well remembers that when he was a young man his father made a brief visit to his relatives in Wayne County, and was impressed with the beauty and fertility of their fine farms. The made a "sentimental journey" in 1936 to the burial place of his great-grand-father and great-grandmother, and could not help feeling that they had done well in participating in the westward movement as so many families did after the Revolutionary War.
