    1. [CRV] BOSTON TRANSCRIPT
    2. A M Coke
    3. Dear CRV-ers, Having just returned from a 3 month research trip, I'm just now catching up on reading the archives. Regretfully, I missed the discussion about the "Boston Transcript". I wonder if any of you helpful, knowledgeable researchers would happen to know if there is anywhere in existence an archive/index of the TRUE names of the "Transcript" correspondents? It seems to me that as useful as the "Transcript" queries and replies are - how much more useful the identity of the correspondents would be. If anyone out there happens to know the identity of "CANAWACTA", I'd love to hear from you, as Mr/MS/Mrs CANAWACTA has/had more information about my families than ANY other sources I've ever found. 1. [CRV] FIRST SIMSBURY (CT) FAMILIES: part 3 of 6 -
    2. M J Moser
    3. Transcribed From Appendix (pgs 168-175) of the Book: HISTORY OF SIMSBURY, GRANBY, AND CANTON FROM 1642 TO 1645 By: Noah A. Phelps Hartford PRESS OF CASE, TIFFINY AND BURNHAM, 1845 Pearl Street, corner of Trumbull ___________ REGISTER of Marriages, Births, and Deaths, in the families of the first settlers of Simsbury. This Register is compiled chiefly from an old manuscript book, in the possession of JAMES LOOMIS, sq. of Windsor, "made out May 18, 1674," from an older book stated to be full; to which additions were made during a few years, after 1674. These books unquestionably contain the records kept of these events, by several clergymen who officiated at Windsor, during their occurrence. The one, from which these extracts are made, is in a mutilated condition, and in many places illegible. It does not of course contain the births of children born before their parents removed to Windsor, nor generally, after they settled in Simsbury. In compiling this Register, a considerable amount of matter, in addition to the above, has been derived from the state records, and from the town records of Windsor and Simsbury. It is not claimed that this account is perfect, or that it can be made so. But the design has been to include in it all that has been discovered relating to the subject as connected with the early inhabitants of Simsbury. Where names or dates are missing, they were so in the originals from which copies were made. ________________________________________________________ PART 3 BEGINS. The book itself is not divided into parts. I'm separating the material into six parts for posting purposes. THOMAS HOLCOMB. died 1657. His widow, Elizabeth, married James Eno, 1658. 3. Hi Becky Maybe one of us could help you if you gave a name for this person. Several people on the list have various resources, but of course we can't help if we don't know who you are looking for. This is not a reprimand, I like to help when ever I can. 3. My gggrandfather, according to his enlistment papers for the war of 1812, said he was born in Hartford,CT. he enlisted in Derby, CT. But he is listed as a soldier from VT. I can't find a birth record for him in VT. of CT. assuming there is something to find. Does anyone have any suggestions where to look? Thanks Becky louellas wrote: > -----Original Message----- > From: louellas <louellas@endor.com> > To: mjmoser@snet.net <mjmoser@snet.net> > Date: Saturday, August 05, 2000 8:59 PM > Subject: Re: [CRV] 1790 records > > >Also many families may have children in several towns as they moved along > >and recorded them in only one--often on one page. 3. Hi Bonnie...I'd appreciate a lookup. some family records indicate that my 4 gr grandfather ,, Gad Blakeslee, served in the War of 1812 for a very brief period. (2 weeks) At the time of service he would have been listed as a resident of Plymouth/Thomaston Conn. (Same town, but changed it's name) or perhaps nearby Waterbury, Conn. Name: Gad Blakeslee In advance, thanks Shirley in San Diego On Sun, 6 Aug 2000 14:59:16 -0400 "bweber" <bweber@attcanada.ca> writes: > Hi Becky > Maybe one of us could help you if you gave a name for this person. > Several people on the list have various resources, but of course we > can't > help if we don't know who you are looking for. > This is not a reprimand, I like to help when ever I can. > Bonnie ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! 1. [CRV] Hampden County Update
    2. Laurel O'Donnell
    3. Hi Everyone, I am pleased to announce the following resources have been uploaded to the Hampden County site and are currently available. Carol Maslon has forwarded tombstone transcriptions for the following seven Hampden County cemeteries: Monson - Bethany Road Cemetery - 1312 Records Monson - Cotton Hollow (also known as Day Burying Ground) - 104 Records Monson - Grout Cemetery - 45 Records Monson - Main Street Cemetery - 78 Records Monson - North Main Street Cemetery - 140 Records Three Rivers (Palmer) - Old St. Ann Cemetery - 87 Records Wilbraham - East Wilbraham Cemetery - 596 Records What would we do without our wonderful volunteers? These transcriptions represent an incredible amount of time and effort on Carol's part and I thank her for this valuable contribution to the site. Take a moment to send a thank you e-mail to her if any of these files prove useful to you -- I am sure she will appreciate knowing her work has been helpful in research efforts! Secondly, another high school yearbook is online. Holyoke High School class of 1945 is available now and has individual photos of graduating seniors, yearbook text descriptions of the students, a list of faculty and some sports and social photos. A bit more contemporary, but fun and interesting nonetheless. DOB is likely 1926-27 for the students featured here. Finally, the compiled list of Hampden County cemeteries has been updated. Many people have sent in updates or corrections with various details and there are a couple additions, largely due to the new transcriptions mentioned above. As always, these new additions are linked directly from the Hampden County home page available at http://www.rootsweb.com/~mahampde/ Cheers, Laurel O'Donnell Hampden County Coordinator
