Does anyone have the lineage for Anson Greene Phelps ? or Thomas Phelps born circa 1711 in Simsbury? I have several letters from 1840 from William Earle Dodge and several citing lengthy vacations my Dickinson family took with Anson and family. I'm attempting to research the Phelps line to see if there was marriage connecting Dickinson's which led to a heavily involved business relationship with Dodge and Phelps in the mid 1800's. Thanks, Cynthia Dickinson

As a former resident (1980-85) of the CONSTITUTION STATE <g>, I can tell you that the state gov't discourages the use of "Nutmeg State" and "Nutmegger." That is an old story, which alleges that peddlers from Connecticut used to sell wooden knobs of wood to housewives, calling them nutmegs. So it came to be a nickname from anyone who came from Connecticut. Janet: To my understanding, "a Nutmegger", was someone who peddled Nutmeg Sticks in the 18th century. Worse yet, sometimes the nutmeg sticks weren't real. One of our earlier scams. I recently discovered that ancestors of mine, the Silas Hare Family, lived in Litchfield, Conn. (Census 1790) Probably they moved there from further east along the Conn. River. Any information very welcome. Jean Cromwell

Hi! I am looking for a Ryant/Riant family in E. Haddam area. There is a John Ryant listed as being on the muster roll of the 3rd Co. of the 2nd CT Reg under Maj. Jos. Spencer, for the campaign of 1758. I have a 4xg grandfather, Jos. Ryant, who was suppose to have been born in E. Haddam c1757 and died 1849 in Farmington, ME. Joseph was Rev vet serving in or for MA and NH. Anyone know anything about John or Joseph? Thanks, Jan

No, I haven't, but we're stuck in Susquehannah County, PA in 1835 with Hubby's Fish line. His 2xgreat grandfather, one David Fish, died there in 1835 and we've not been able to find out who David's parents were. He was married to a Julina Dayton who outlived him by 6 years. Same story with her--no clue as to who her parents were. We can pretty much take the family back to them, but before them is a big mystery. David was born ca.1788[ going by the age on his cemetery record] but again, no clue as to where!! I have a sneaky suspicion he may have come from CT because I checked a CT census and several people with the same given names as David gave his sons lived there and I wondered if they were some kind of kin--but this is just grasping at straws. I'll print your info and if I come across your names, I'll let you know! Sandi Fish ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anne E. Looking for information on death/burial of Harry Sigfrid Anderson married to Ellen Victoria Nelson. Ellen passed away in 1992 at age of 99 in Mt Vernon New York. Their son John Andrew Anderson is terminally ill and living in Maine. He has a wish to locate the burial area. His illness is limited him to memory. Harry worked at the Fall River Shipyard as a Naval Draftsman. Please contact me direct at my e mail. We appreciate any and all help you may have. Thank you, Patti
