    3. Here's what the 1892 Revised Roster, published by the Vermont Adjutant General, lists: Davidson M. Barr, Barnard, Pvt, Co. H, 11th Vermont Infantry. Enlisted 7/24/1862, mustered in 9/1/1862, promoted Corporal 9/6/1862, promoted Sergeant 10/23/1863, taken prisoner 6/23/1864, released 4/28/1865. Additional records indicate he was Andersonville inmate number #45013. --------- Sidney Barr is written by some as: >2. Sydney Levi Barr, b. Weathersfield, 30 Nov., 1869. He m. Edna Wilson of >Ludlow and removed to Bridgewater, Mass. Sidney is buried in Pine Hill Cemetery, Bridgewater, MA. His headstone reads: BARR 1869 SIDNEY L. 1946 HIS WIFE 1882 AURILLA S. 1974 The caretaker at the Cemetery showed me his records which says: Sidney L. Barr 1946 76 grave 1 Aurilla 1974 92 grave 2 The Bridgewater Town Clerk looked up the following info: Mr. and Mrs. Barr lived at 739 No. Main St. They first registered to vote in 1924 Mrs. Barr moved to Orleans, MA in 1973 Sidney must have had two wives. I don't see how Edna Wilson and Aurilla Walcott could be the same person. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Shopping - Thousands of Stores. 1. [CRV] 140 acres-Elihu Finney, District No. 10-Norwich, VT-what is it now???

    3. Windsor County 1883-84 Page 414 Elihu N. Finney Norwich Farmer 140 acres Wool Grower 40 sheep Elihu Finney bought a farm ca. 185something (from ?? ??), and sold it ca. 1888 (to ?? ??). Who did he buy it from, and who did he sell it to? Through the years, I have always been told that there is (1) nothing up there, (2) just cellar holes, (3) all grown up with brush, (4) a private cemetery. When did the buildings come down, who owns the 140 acres today, and is there a picture of the farm when it was standing? It has always been explained that to get up from the Strafford side or the Norwich side, (1) you need a four-wheel drive, (2) a hay wagon, (3) why go up only to find nothing? What does it look like up there? Has anyone at all ever made the bumpy ride at all? How about walking? How many miles would it take to walk up one side and down the other? Or, maybe it's true, that there is nothing up there, and nobody has been up there in years. Any clue at all to the above questions will be thoroughly researched by inquiring descendants nd historians who want to know. Charlie Anderson Descendant of Elihu Finney, 140 acres, ??????????????? Augustus Finney, 120 acres, can still be seen today! Homer Finney, 160 acres, can still be seen today! Annie Finney Anderson, 60 acres, can still be seen today! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Shopping - Thousands of Stores. 1. [CRV] Mrs. Harriet Philena (Alger) Finney 1915 Herald Obituary
    2. C Anderson
    3. Any additional information on the Finney and Alger families from historians and family members would be extremely appreciated!!!!! 1915 Herald clipping of Harriet Philena (Alger) Finney Mrs. Philena A. Finney Mrs. Philena Alger Finney, widow of the late Deacon Elihu Finney, passed away at the home of her son, Augustus Finney, in Sharon March 29, 1915, at the advanced age of eighty three years and two months. For many years she and her husband lived in the town of Norwich, where four children came to gladden their home, a son dying in childhood and a daughter in young womanhood. While living there they were members of the F. B. church in South Strafford, he being deacon for several years. Ever faithful in attendance, through summer's heat and winter's cold, they were always present at their beloved church when possible. Several years ago they moved to Manchester, N.H., where they made their home until he passed away twelve years ago. Since then she has spent a part of the time with the son in Sharon. Quiet and unassuming in her ways, yet she always exerted an influence for good and faithfully performed each duty as it came to her. Always industrious, her strength held out so she was able to assist in household duties until a few months before her death, when she gradually and peacefully sank to rest to join the loved ones that had preceded her to the better land. Two sons, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one brother and many friends are left to mourn her loss. The funeral was held at the home of her son. Rev. L. L. Chase from the F. B. church of South Strafford, spoke comforting words to the mourning friends from second Timothy, 4 chapter, 6 verse, and a quartet from the same church sang the hymns, "Asleep in Jesus" and "No More Good-byes." Those present from out of town were the son, Asa Finney, and wife of Manchester, N.H., Mr. and Mrs. Prosper Alger of South Strafford, William Alger and Mrs. Tucker of West Hartford. After the service the remains were carried to South Strafford and buried in the family lot in Evergreen cemetery. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! 2. Wilson/Moriarty
    3. One note of correction regarding the Colony of New Haven. The Colony of New Haven was never part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. New Haven was absorbed into the Colony of Connecticut in 1665 by order of the King who did not grant the official charter that New Haven requested. Prior to that: In 1637 about six men from the party of Puritans in Boston led by Theophilos Eaton and Rev. John Davenport were dropped off at the New Haven harbor to make a treaty with the Indians and prepare the way for the others. Davenport & Eaton led their flock from Boston to New Haven, landing about April 25th, 1638. The New Haven Puritans may have arrived in Boston from England and stayed in Boston for many months, but they were not ever agents of the Bay Colony, nor was New Haven ever an extension of the Bay Colony. 3. FYI, CT River Valley folks to include Cynthia, I have been forwarding "your" history of Tolland, CT. to the HATCH list, because we are in it! Thus this follow up ----- Original Message ----- From: "Akins, Carl" <AKINS_C@mail.sunybroome.edu> To: <HATCH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, December 20, 2000 6:19 AM Subject: RE: [CRV] Tolland Conn....1775...part 4 | FYI -- according to the Hatch Genealogy Society's book on the descendants of | Thomas Hatch, Thomas's great-grandson Joseph (Jr.) helped found the town of | Tolland, CT, and one of his children was the first to be born there, so it | would figure that the Hatch name would show up prominently in at least some | of Tolland history. I work with a woman who grew up in Tolland, however, who | tells me that in today's histories the name isn't mentioned. She, at least, | was unaware of the Hatch influence. My particular line of Hatches comes from | this Joseph, but my ancestors didn't stay in Tolland after his generation, | so I don't have anything on the Hatches mentioned in these reports.
