    3. Good Morning, RE: IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM ROOTSWEB. Starting today (Monday, 6/10) and extending over several days, RootsWeb is going to be moving the list servers and other machines. No messages sent are expected to be lost, but the lists will be down for a while when it happens. PLEASE don't post "why aren't I getting mail" during that time . . . you will when it comes back up, and you don't want half of it to be everyone on the list asking why aren't they getting mail. If you have trouble reaching other RW servers this week, it's probably for the same reason; try again in an hour or two or three . . . Thanks! Karima List Administrator

    1. [CRV] Descends.of Deacon David Smith and Hannah Willard Smith/HADLEY, MA
    2. I am trying to find the death date and burial place of my ancestor Ama (Amey) Smith, (incorrectly referred to as Naomi in Judd's History of Hadley). She was the sixth daughter of David Smith (1709 - 1771) and Hannah Willard Smith (1722 - 1809). She bore a son out of wedlock (Daniel Smith, b 1779 in Hadley, d. 1845 in Plainfield, Otsego Co., NY) and later married Daniel Wallis in 1795 when her son was 16. She is not buried with Daniel Wallis (d. 1830) in the Old Hadley Cemetery. Amey may have died betwen before 1819 because a Submit Cooke was listed as Daniel Wallis' wife in a deed dated 1819. Amey is interesting because she did not marry the father of her son (as far as I know) and I believe she emained single until marrying Daniels Wallis, and furthermore, as a married woman, she purchased land on her own in Hadley in the early 1800s. Are there any other descendents of Deacon David and Hannah Smith who would know where her siblings are buried? The other daughers were Elizabeth Smith (married first John Cooke (1770) and second Josiah Smith(1771), Hannah (married Coleman Cooke 1771), Mary (married Peter Montague 1778), Theoda (married Nathaniel Dickinson and may have died in 1769), and Eunice (married Reuben Knight). Amey's younger brother, Willard, is buried with his wife and several children in the Westhampton Cemetery and Amy does not seem to be there. I'm thinking that perhaps when she died Daniel Wallis did not have a cemetery plot and she might have been buried with a sister, perhaps Theoda. I would appreciate any suggestions or information. Amey is my fifth great grandmother and I want to find her. Thanks very very much. Debbie Smith Zorach

Please take a few minutes to read the following little website I made for the project, and then email her your support. She was told by the Town Officials that producing letters and emails from people who are in agreement with what she is trying to do, would help a LOT. http://coralynn-photos.freehomepage.com Thanks!! 1. [CRV] IRISH INDENTURE "SLAVES"
    2. frpamu
    3. Hi, Connecticut River Valley Listers: I'd like to contact descendants of the Irish in the Connecticut River Valley who were taken out of Irish prisons in the 17th century, during or just after the English Reformation, brought to New England and sold for the remainder of their prison terms as indentured servants. According to a book by Michael J. O'Brien, "Pioneer Irish in New England," published in 1937 and republished in 1998 by Genealogical Publishing Co. of Baltimore, many of these were brought to and sold in Essex County, Massachusetts and after working out their indentures, spread out into the colony. They were ignored by earlier historians, who are accused of wishing to project a basically English settlement, because they were not freemen and thus not really settlers (!). Many others were sent to British plantations in the Caribbean and intermarried with natives (and thus called "black Irish"), but I'm looking for men (and women) who were brought directly to Massachusetts and were absorbed into that ! population. What interests me basically is the sources for descendants' research and how they were able to trace their descent from this unusual segment of the colonial population. I would say maybe Cambridge, NY May 05, 1799? Death of Anna Wells Fenton (date/place/burial - sources?) says April 1850?? Proof that Anna Wells that married Benjamin Fenton was the daughter of Joseph Wells and Thankful Shalor (maybe in will listing Anna Fenton????) see next item Will/estate/probate/deed records for Joseph Wells when he died ca 1817 Cambrige NY??? Death of Thankful Shalor Wells (date/place/burial - sources?) Birth of Thankful Shalor (date/place/- sources?) (is it 23 JAN 1726 in Bolton, Tolland Co., CT?) Just wanted to make sure Data I have accumulated: Date: Fri, 24 Jul 1998 From: Laura Hulslander <[email protected]> I checked the book "Records of the Protestant Presbyterian Church of Cambridge, Washington Co., NY" but there was no marriage listed for Anna Wells to Benjamin Fenton. There was no birth listed for Martha W. Fenton either. I did some checking on both families but didn't find any mention of those names under Fenton or Wells. If I can find time to run them down, I do have records from various researchers from this family and will see what I can find. In the LDS library there should be a book written by Catherine B. Welles some years back. This may contain what you are looking for. I know about the book, but have never been able to get my hands on a copy. I once spoke to her husband, Rev.
