Nina, I found on the internet, a site on Haddam CT. I copied all available data to the system, then entered it into a family tree database. Someone else has ancestry there, and I have been chatting with her too. I have a Macintosh system, occasionally use the reunion family tree program, but my preference is to use GENE. Both have the gedcom Import/Export features. I have just created a 'Haddam' family tree database from my main database of 9,000 people. I haven't looked at it yet, but assume your ancestors are in it. This is an area of the country, where after 3 or 4 generations, everybody is related to everybody. I am open to exchange info on email, via downloads, snaiil-mail, on diskette. note that the Mac can Open/Read/Write/ Format diskettes for both a PB and a Mac. To send a gedcom, I would need to know if you have a PC, use DOS, or Windows. I'm a bit busy at present. I have some medical problems stemming from brain cancer and radiation treatments to my head. About 5 PM (now) mybran gets fuzzy, and I need a nap. I have most of my marbles, but my head was crushed in a bicycle accident. So, I have a few liveable problems. However, I'm quite interested in swapping data. David Blish

Can anyone verify that Amy Bill b. 1788 to Amy Fuller and Reuben Bill (both b. supposedly in Lebanon, CT) is the same Amy Bill (b. 1788 East Haddam, CT.) who married John Mitchell, II at Millington, East Haddam, Middlesex, CT. Amy Bill is listed as a daughter of Reuben and Amy in "Bill Family Memoirs." Reuben married a second time to Rhoda Cheesman September 2, 1794 in Dalton, Berkshire, Mass. Amy Bill's marriage to John Mitchell, II is recorded as follows: Amy Bill m. John Mitchell, 2nd. New London Gazette, Issue 1/8/1812, p. 190 Hartford Courant, Issue 1/15/1812, vol. 1, p. 29 Hartford Courant, Volume 1, p. 2 I have requested and looked at these articles, and there is no further information. Boy, would I love any help at all. Major brickwall for 6+ years. Thanks, The Pavones [email protected] http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=pavone

Hi, I was born in Springfield, MA and my ancestors include Beldens, Goodwins, Gilberts, Chapins, Partridges. My two main problems are James Nichols of Hinsdale married Ann Field in Northfield, July 13, 1774 and removed to Athens, VT. Who was James and where did he die? I can't prove that he was the James of Holden born 1752, son of Joshua. The Fields genealogy says that Ann died Feb 28, 1829. Where was that? Elizabeth Belding married Henry Gilbert, Jan 31, 1682/83, son of Catherine Chapin and Thomas Gilbert. Was Elizabeth the dau of Samuel Belding? I have the Vital records of Putney, VT and will be glad to do look-ups. Bob in Florida

A surviving tradition concerning her brings vividly to mind that delusion which so disgraced some parts of Massachusetts, but from which Hadley was so largely free. It was sometimes thought that Hannah was "possessed" that she was indeed a witch. Perhaps she feigned her action in sport, or it may be she was the subject of some nervous disorder. But the story goes that when afflicted she would call on her brother Samuel for help. He would at once arm himself with a great broadsword, enter the room where Hannah was, and when his sister had pointed out the locality of the tormenting spirits - to him invisible - would cut and slash for very life. EW Looking through my Stiles History of Windsor I find that there is good reason to seriously consider the Cook line that begins there or that of Suffield when searching for your Sarah. It seems that Sarah is a very well used name in both those lines. What is your link to having her born in M? susan moore At 05:51 PM 6/13/2002 -0400, you wrote: >In a message dated 6/12/02 9:05:14 AM, [email protected] >writes: > ><< FIRST GENERATION >1. Here is a real shot in the dark query - Alzina C. SCHOOLCRAFT, b. ca 1847, NY, dau. of Thomas and Eunice SCHOOLCRAFT, m. December 24, 1865 in Alma, Jackson Co, WI to John SMITH b. Colchester, New London, CT, son of Joseph and Emily SMITH. Would anyone have a Joseph and Emily SMITH of Colchester in their line? Marriage record indicates John was a 'seaman' - but was living in the middle of WI. The Mormons had leased sawmills in Jackson Co, WI for production of lumber for Nauvoo settlement, so it is possible there is a connection to that SMITH family. Marilyn in Michigan
As long as there's been mention of these families - here are my brickwalls - Looking for family of Rachel ROCKWELL who m. Thomas Hungerford b: August 08, 1747 in East Haddam, CT d: January 09, 1810 in Lanesboro, Berkshire, MA. Anyone looking into the ROCKWELL line that connected to HUNGERFORD in Berkshire Co, MA? Looking for family of Triphena SMITH who m. Thomas Hungerford b: Abt. 1788 in MA d: Bef. 1875 in prob. Orleans Co, NY. Very likely of Berkshire Co also. My line is Thomas b 1672 + Elizabeth SMITH > Jonathan + Martha WELLES > Thomas b. 1747 + Rachel ROCKWELL > Thomas b. 1788 + Tryphena SMITH > Jeremiah Rockwell b. 1807, Lanesborough, Berkshire, MA m. Eliza FULLER, dau. of Noah FULLER and Lois GOODRICH. Also looking for family of Lois GOODRICH, b. 1791 d. 1846, Lanesborough, Berkshire, MA. Marilyn in Michigan

Hi folks..... I havent left yet.....and dont plan to for a while...<grin> -- My CRV connections are: * born and raised in Northfield, Franklin County * living in Hampden County ---- Ancestors I am searching: **COLE / Cowle / Coles: My ancestor, Burden Cole migrated from what is now Warren,Rhode Island [once part of Swansea,Mass.] and settled in Leverett, Franklin County about 1820. He is descended from Hugh Cole, son of James Cole of Plymouth. ** GARDNER also of Leverett, Mass. Burden's wife was Abigail Gardener, daughter of Andrew [and Rebecca Cook?] **CASWELL, Townsend, migrated from Taunton,Bristol Co.,Mass to Wendell,Franklin Co.,Mass. He descends from Thomas Caswell of Taunton, early settler. Townsend married Betsy Holden, dau of Benjamin and Catherine(Holden) holden, also of Leverett,Mass. **Holden,Richard came on the ship "Francis" in 1634, settled Charlestown. ** DROWN, David of Sheffield and Lyndonville area of Caledonia County,VT Frank Drown came to Greenfield,Mass in 1890's with his family. Need to find which Down family he connects with in that area. David COULD have been son of Joseph and Hannah, born about 1823. and there was another David born in 1777 and died 1857. Only way I found David was on my g-grandfather's death certificate. It has been said that the Drown's migrated from Canada....I doubt it.. Possibly from the coastal area of NH. or RI. Sarah COOK [or COOKE], b 8 Mar 1727 or 1728 in Massachusetts, m. Rev. Jedediah SMITH in 1751 in Granville, Hampden, MA. He was b. in Suffield, Hartford, CT, educated at Yale and pastor of the Congregational church in Granville until 1776, when the family (except for oldest son Jedediah Jr, who eventually settled in Blandford, MA) immigrated to Natchez, MS. I have his family traced from the Rev. Henry SMITH who came to Connecticut from England about 1637 to multiple lines today. But I have nothing on COOK[E]. Any help would be appreciated. E. W. Hi! We live in NW Indiana, but my wife and I both have a goodly number of Connecticut ancestors -- Thralls and Gaylords in Windsor, for starters. I would love to hear from anyone who has solid information about the ancestry Thomas Porter of Hartford and Farmington, who married Deacon Stephen Hart's daughter Sarah and died in 1697. He's my 8g grandfather. My ancestors seemed to have been drawn to the Connecticut River Valley in the 17th & 18th centuries. They lived in towns from Saybrook in the south to Hadley & Hatfield in the north and many of the ones in between. Accordingly, I've spent the last eighteen months gathering & transcribing records from the area and posting them on my website. I've had a lot of help along the way from Coralynn Brown, David Hoffman, Ray Brown, Don Smith and others. There are between 300 and 400 record files on line now along with about 80 family reports. My latest research project involves Suffield, which was first part of Massachusetts and now part of Hartford Co., CT - this makes locating records "interesting" - and Windsor, CT. The family names from the 1600s are AUSTIN, SMITH, YOUNGLOVE, HOLCOMBE & ENO.
