Author: NormanWalters103 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.cruse/274.1.1.1.1.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Finally, someone that actually knows the truth about my grandfather. Yes, he ran that old wooden store for many years, running credit books for families that he knew would never be able to repay him, but, he felt that it was his duty to help the members of the community. The store later burned down and Grandpa moved to Hodgenville and started a saw mill and blacksmith shop. After several years there, he moved back to Hammonsville and started just a blacksmith shop to help farms get their plow shears welded. He was know very well throughout the tri-county area. And, yes, his wife's nickname was "Nell" but, her real name was Audrey Helen. I have a Walters Family Tree on here and if you want to get some true and factual information, I suggest you check out my family tree. After all, these are my ancestors and who would know better? Author: NormanWalters103 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.cruse/274.1.1.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: There are errors in this post. My grandfather's father's name was George Chatfield Cruse. And his father's name was Prosser Cruse. Another error: The family mostly lived around the Hammonsville area. I have found out since a few of my previous post, that according to the local Historical Society that a copy of the book is maintained in Louisville at a depository under the University of Louisville or at the Historical Society. The person who told me said they couldn't remember which one it was, but, if you truly want to find out, you can do a little research and I am sure you can find a copy somewhere. The original cost was $25 but I cannot remember the name of the publishing company. At the time I didn't think it was too important, a decision that I now regret that I didn't purchase a copy.
