Bethlehem Twp., Washington Co., PA - Post Office: Bealsville - taken 4 August - p. 34 - Dwelling and Family #238: Joseph Crumrine, age 26 - laborer - b. PA Lanah Crumrine, age 25, b. MD 1870 Census - Blanchard Twp., Putnam Co., OH - Post Office: Gilboa - taken 17 Jun - p. 294a & b - Dwelling & Family #106: Joseph Crumrine, age 26 (should be 36) - b. PA L___h Crumrine, age 35, b. MD Henry D. Crumrine, age 9, b. PA Isah B. Crumrine, age 6, b. OH (this is Isaiah) 1880 Census - Blanchard Twp., Putnam Co., OH - p. 383D Joseph Crumrine, age 46, b. PA - farmer Lanah Crumrine, age 45, b. MD Henry D. Crumrine, age 19, b. PA Isaah B. Crumrine, age 16, b. OH (this is Isaiah) Some other records that I haven't verified as yet place this Joseph CRUMRINE (b. 1 Feb 1834 in Wash. Co., PA) )as the son of George CRUMRINE (1800-1864) and his wife Nancy GARBER of East Bethlehem Twp., Washington Co., PA and I have found that George and Nancy had a son named Joseph in the 1850 Census of that Twp. and Co. in PA who was age 16 in 1850. However, this Joseph CRUMRINE is said to have md. Sarah BOSTATER in Washington Co., PA on 6 Nov 1850. This contradicts the official information that I found in the Hancock Co., OH marriage records (Hancock Co., OH Marriage Records, Vol. 1, p. 201) that says they were md. there on the same date. Whether this is your Joseph CRUMRINE or not remains to be proven with other records. Perhaps the person who recorded Joseph's wife's name misread it for Sarah....that, too, remains to be proven. I don't know where the person who sent me the record that they were md. in PA got it. I can send her snailmail address to you if you'd like it and you could ask her about it. She sent it to me in the 1970's and I don't know if she is on the Internet now or not. Incidentally, there were other CRUMRINE families in Hancock Co., OH at the same time and my records state that they were also b. in PA. At any rate, this will give you (and me) something to work on to prove. You might order a copy of the old George's will (or probate record) from Wash. Co., PA to see if it states where his various children lived at the time of his death. If the will doesn't give that information, you would have to order the "settlement" document. I'll continued to work on this also, but will not be ordering the probate record for that George. If this George does prove to be your Joseph's father, then I have your line back to 1592 in what is now Germany. Let's hope that the records are there to prove it one way or another. Happy Holidays to you and your family!!! Dolores
