Born April 6, 1930 in Charlotte, he was the son of the late Purl David and Mamie Strube Crump. A U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict, he was a retired supervisor from Brown Transport in Charlotte. He was a member of Wiggins Road Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday School teacher. Mr. Crump was an avid fan of NASCAR racing and loved to spend time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters. Mr. Crump is survived by his wife of 33 years, Peggy Holman Crump; children, Deborah Bukowski and husband, John, of Cleveland, David Crump Jr. and wife, Juanita, of Statesville, Shelia Guiton and husband, Kenneth, and Amy Ensminger, all of Mooresville; stepson, Mark Henderson of Pumpkin Center; sisters, Sandra Turner of Harrisburg, Joann Solesbee and Joan Brown, both of Charlotte; 10 grandchildren! and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, at Wiggins Road Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Abee and Rev. Rodney McAllister officiating. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Wiggins Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 188 Wiggins Road, Mooresville, NC 28115. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville is serving the Crump family.
