Richard Crump of Powhatan was born about 1743 since he was 70 when he died according to his obit. If that is true then his mother's name mostly likely was Lucy. This is based on the analysis of the Register of St Peter's Parish in New Kent. If Richard b.1711 and his first wife Lucy had a son John b. Sep 1753 and Richard b 1743 was the son of Richard b 1711 then it follows that Lucy is Richard's mother not Mary the second wife of Richard b 1711. Further according to my research Lucy was the daughter of Turner Hunt. There was an article published some years ago about the Hunt family of colonial VA and in that article it states that there was a chancery suit where Richard Crump and his wife Lucy sued her father's estate. I am not sure where Goodrich falls in that family. I have has some correspondence in recent years that states that he most likely was an full brother of Richard and a half brother of Abner who was the Clerk of the Court of Powhatan. I know after the Rev Goodrich ran a tavern at Genito Crossing. Richard b1743 served as executor of his estate. If anyone has seen a post that would prove that Goodrich was the oldest son of Richard b 1711 I would love to see that. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
