Several of my Hart Co., KY CRUMP family moved to Grayson Co., TX in the late 1800s, and some of them are buried there. Below is a very entangled list of my CRUMPs who traveled to Grayson Co. TX. Cynthia Ann COATS (1858-1926) married James Rufus (J.R.) CRUMP (1854-1882). She moved to Grayson Co. TX after the death of J.R. to live with her daughter, Leela James CRUMP (1879-1926). Leela had apparently traveled to TX earlier with some of the CRUMP family who had gone there to either visit friends or for work-related reasons. Leela James CRUMP married John Calhoun McDUFFIE (1871-1939) of Grayson Co.,TX. J. C. had been to Hart Co. KY for business reasons and apparently met Leela and the CRUMP family during those visits. Both Lela and J.C. are buried in West Hill Cemetery in Sherman. They had four children: Ladylea m. Neal E. GRANT; Alice m. George Walter BOYLES; Helen; and Dorothy. Both Helen and Dorothy are buried in West Hill Cemetery. After Leela's death, John married another Hart Co. CRUMP who was the first cousin of Leela. In 1928, John married Daisy Belle CRUMP (1891-1962). She had been the proprietor of a hotel in Sherman for many years. After his death, Daisy moved back to Hart Co. KY. Daisy CRUMP McDUFFIE's niece, Mary Elizabeth CRUMP (1906-1991) traveled to Sherman, Grayson Co., TX and lived with her for awhile. Mary Elizabeth married Lacy T. COX (1887-1958), an associate of J.C. McDUFFIE, and they lived in Sherman where Lacy is now buried in West Hill Cemetery. The 1900 Grayson Co. TX census shows something that I hope someone can verify. In the household of Cynthia CRUMP, age 42 (widow of J.R. CRUMP), Elzy B. CRUMP, age 13, is shown as her son. The only other members shown in her household are her sister, Lina LEACH, age 44, and daughter Eunice LEACH, age 5. J.R. CRUMP died at the age of 27 in 1882, and Elzy B. CRUMP (son of his wife Cynthia) would have been born in 1886. Census records show that Elzy B. CRUMP (1886-1932) m. Margaret L. PARKER and had at least one daughter, Marie (b.1907). Elzy was an electrician in Sherman at the Roberts Electric Co. according to his WWI registration. Both Elzy and Margaret are also buried in West Hill Cemetery. I would also like some information on the connection with the Hart Co. KY CRUMPs and the Grayson Co. TX CRUMPs. Sorry but I put the year for the land record in Augusta County,Va on George as 1792 and it is 1782. Carolyn ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
I just wanted to let the ones who are part of this line that I found a land recording in Augusta County,VA for the year 1792. It would look like Mary, his daughter was born there not New Kent if this is our George which I feel is. He would be on his way from Shenandoah County to KY. I found this by accident this summer while in VA researching another line. If anyone would like more information just ask. Hello everyone, I just wanted to let everyone know that I am the new list owner. I'm new to list management but not computers or genealogy. I've been researching my Crumps for quite a while so like many of you I can get stuck too, however with new advancements in DNA and more and more articles and documents being fount on the 'net - well I have hope! <grin>. I've been lucky enough to also find online cousins from several lines! So it can be a fun adventure for us all - you never know when things will turn a corner and your brick wall crumbles and you find yourself all the way back to 1600 (or earlier) (tho I doubt many of us will be lucky enough to get back to 0001 :) I don't have many "rules" other than the standard usage and netiquette. Rootsweb does not allow marketing of products/services (without approval) so that type of information should be taken off list. I'm a strong believer in DNA research so talk about companies providing services can be mentioned, just as long as you don't become a "commercial" for any particular company. No rudeness please - from time to time we tend to get people who are new or confused about what is a list and how it functions - we've all been there (tho some people catch on sooner than others :) ... so be kind :) If you have any questions or need any help - even for looking stuff up please post! Someone will come along and try to help you out - I know there are many helpful people on this list (I've been on it for awhile) :) Respectfully, Crystal
To all - Emma passed away on June 17th. To view her obituary and sign the guestbook from the funeral home, please see: http://www.andersonclaytonbros.com Click on the button to sign and view the family guestbook, select the letter C and click on Emma's name. I promised Emma that I would take care of her lists in her absence and now that she won't be returning to care for them I'm looking to the list members who worked with Emma over the years who may be interested in adopting this list and and carrying on the discussions and research in the manner Emma would have wanted. If any list subscriber is interested in taking as the new admin, please contact me privately (off-list). Thank you all for your concern for Emma and your kindness to me while I tried to fill in temporarily. Joan ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
Hello Joan My thoughts and prayers are with Emma and her family. Linda from Calgary, Alberta
To all- As some of you know, your list admin for this list, Emma Cronin, has been battling throat cancer for some time. I've been temporarily handling the admin duties for the list during her cancer treatments. This morning I received the message below from Emma's daughter so I'm passing it along to help keep you informed. I'm sure all of our thoughts and prayers go out to Emma and her family at this time. Joan Young Please feel free to pass this on to any of her lists/boards that she admin's. Emma, my mother, has lost the fight against cancer and as of yesterday the decision was made to move her to palliative care so that we can just keep her comfortable. Currently the Dr. believes that the end will come sometime in the next couple of days. I will pass along another message later but for now I need to get back to the hospital. I will try to answer any emails sent to this address as best I can. Thank you Shawn ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
