Author: Huntera16 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.crump/568.1.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, Perhaps you have seen my posts before. I am looking for an old Army Buddy of mine by the name of William A. Crump. We just called him Will or Sgt. Crump. We served together in the 1st platoon of A Co. 1/69th Armor in Vietnam in 1967. Will was a pretty good guy and saved our butts a number of times. The reason for posting here is that he was supposedly from Chicago. Several of us have been looking for him for a number of years. So far I have mailed about 30 letters and no one seems to know him. Approximately 10 of those letters have been sent to the Chicago area. Of the few(about 5) that have sent back the inclosed postage paid post card, don't seem to know him. Am I chasing an urban legend? Would really like to find him as our 69th Armor Association is meeting this year and we First Platooners are planning a reunion in late Spring. Author: ec105949 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.crump/678.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Maybe I can get it right this time. Alexander was in STANLY Co, NC in 1850!! His wife was Wincy, thus the "W". I looked these up but didn't write them down right J. F. and family WERE in Waco in 1880, and Alexander, his apparent father was also in Waco in 1880. That's good for me to know, because I didn't know what happened to him. Alexander was son of Stephen Crump b 1788 and Nancy Easley. Stephen was son of John Bushrod Crump and Mary Stephens. John was son of Adam Crump b abt 1699 and Hannah Bushrod. Adam was from Virginia, but born in Ireland. He died about 1750 in Virginia. John Bushrod relocated to NC just before or during the Revolutionary War to what was then Montgomery County. Adam's father was also a James Crump who died in 1735. I do not know his date of birth but likely sometimes in the 1660's. My aplogizies for writing before thinking this through earlier. James is shown as J. F., and Jessis as J. S. C.C and Aurilla are listed as 3 and 1, so your info is correct. Also on the places of birth of the parents. Unfortunately, there were at least four lines of Crumps in NC during the time these were born there. But, it appears to me that James F. may be the James son of Alexander in Stanly Co, NC in 1850. I have no marriage info on James, but this IS my line. It is the line of Adam Crump. Ed Crump in Louisiana Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Crump of North Mill Street in Lexington KY who died February 20, 1991. According to an obituary in the Lexington Herald Leader (dated 2/21/1991) Crump was 84 when he died and was the retired manager of the Lexington Credit Bureau and husband of Lucy Shropshire Crump. I assume this is the same person but am not sure and would like to have that confirmed. I would also like to determine his date of birth. If it's not the same person, then any information about the Crump that attended UK is greatly appreciated. Thanks Jon Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Frequently, the latter leads to the former. I am a g-granddaughter of Elijah Crump & Mary Jane Jones Crump who lived in Callaway Co, MO. all their lives. Elijah was a son of John Crump, 11 Jun 1800--30 Jun 1852, & Anna Sapp Crump, 24 Sep 1805--08 Jan 1875. John's father was Joseph Crump, 03 Feb 1765--15 Feb 1836, married to Elizabeth Hilliard, 18 Dec 1763--1834. Joseph's father was another John Crump, 20 Sep 1728--?, & Martha Patty Crump, 1769. That John was a son of William Crump, abt.1700, married to Mercy/Marcy ?. William was a son of another William, abt 1680, married to a Sarah. Another William, abt.1652,& Susannah ?. Then another William, abt. 1632, married to Anne ?(possibly Vaulx or Valux) who probably were the immigrants of this line. Your Patrick Crump must have been my Elijah's Uncle...does that make us 2nd cousins...or something? All those names were recycled so much...it can get really confusing now, a 180 years later. Elijah also had a brother Patrick, (known to family as Uncle Pack) but his uncle was the only one married to a Sarah Sapp. Problem is...I can't find a Martha Jane Crump anywhere. If you can send some more family names and a few dates, I'll look for her again. You will probably get many replies to your post. If you get facts that seem to disprove what I am sending, would you please share them with me? I can verify most all of my information but I can be wrong too. If so, I need to know about it. Hope to hear from you soon, Jacki Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: galloglas1945 Surnames: Crump, Lindsey Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.crump/189.343.346.2.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have noticed the recent postings about the Boone County, Missouri Crumps and decided it was time for me to write. My GGRandmother was Martha Jane Crump (born 1830) who married Willis Pinkney Lindsey (born 1826 in Spartanburg, SC) in Boone County in 1847. Both were members of the Goshen Primitive Baptist Church but left for Saline County, Missouri, in 1861, as Civil War hostilities broke out. I understand from David Sapp's book, Wilton:A River Town, that the parents of Martha Jane Crump were Patrick and Sarah Crump, but it seems that the move to Saline County may have split the family ties... like sooo many others. It seems that Martha Jane Crump/Lindsey died in 1866 in Arrow Rock, Missouri, as reported by a contemporary obituary in the California, Missouri newspaper. Can anyone tell me more about the Crumps?
