He was called Tony. His father was Josiah Watkins Crump and his mother was Martha D. Peterson. Josiah Watkins Crump was the oldest son of Charles Crump of Northampton Co., NC and Mary Cook of Greensville Co. Charles Crump's father was Josiah Crump and his mother was Sarah Vaughn. Josiah died in 1812 in Northampton Co., NC. Josiah's father was Joseph Crump and mother was Cassandra (probably Moore). Joseph left New Kent about 1749 and moved to Northampton NC. George Robert Crump's sisters were: Martha G. "Puss", Susan Crump, Caroline Corrina, Mary "Pete" P., and Lucinda Mason Crump. There may have been others that I have not copied from my grandfather's notes. He lived in Emporia and knew some of them. Hope this helps. I am looking for any info on George Robert Crump who was my great grandfather. He married Mildred Barnes Turner of Greensville County, Virginia. George was born in 1830-31 in Virginia. Bible records (note on a slip of paper only) say that George's father was Robert W. Crump (son of Jesse?) Census records in 1880 place George with his family in Greensville County, VA. From there the family moved to Portsmouth, VA....Several Crump son's worked for the railroad including my Grandpa, Richard Mason Crump. Anybody out there know anything about George?? Berrnie, a number of years ago I did a little research (not much) on the early Canadian Crumps. I recall that there were about 40-50 in one of the Census periods, but don't remember the date. I think the Census there is not dated the same as in the US, maybe 1901, etc. I will have to dig it out. I know I have it "somewhere". I was looking at the time for some Crumps I thought migrated to the Washington-Oregon area in the 1890's. I eventually found that they did not come from Canada, so I quit looking. But I do have that list that showed where they came from. Mostly England of course. but the names may mean something to you. I'll look for it at my office tomorrow. Thanks for the note. I'm not sure what Crump list you are looking for. But, the more I look at the Crumps in Kentucky between 1800 and 1810, the more I am thinking that you are from the New Kent County, VA, Crumps. There were only seven Crumps in KY in 1800 and not that many more in 1810. I'm thinking these are from Richard or Stephen of the William of New Kent County Crump line. If so, we have more than a dozen descendants in our DNA Project. This could confirm that. Found this at University of Columbia Holding - Western Historical Manuscripts - http://whmc.umsystem.edu/tl-genea.html Crump Family Journals, 1838-1886, (C3146) 1 folder(s) Extracts from the journals of the Crump and Dupuy families. Includes family record of Crump family, and sale bill of their belongings with list of items and amounts paid for each. Also there is a ton of info in the Henry, Etheldra collection listing - her info included a lot of Crump information. I think these are files that need to stay on site and I think can be taken to KC on loan but all stay on Campus in the research room. I have some info but I need to get back. Anyway if anyone has time or lives close thought I'd pass the info along.
