    2. Ed
    3. We only know for sure that William and Frances migrated to Maryland with children William, John and Elizabeth. We have only presumed that Robert, Hannah and Mary were also children born after Feb 1665/66. Some have speculated that Robert was actually a son of William and Frances' oldest son William. We have nothing to document that. Frances' mother was Hannah, too, so naming a daughter or granddaughter would make sense. On the other hand, if Frances was going to name a daughter after her mother she would be more likely to name the first one after her, not the second one. Author: SandraStephens50 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.crump/503.1.1.1.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: In 1880 in Yalobusha Co., Wilson Crump is listed as age 29, b. MS, parents b. VA. Wife is Emma (first wife?), age 23, b. MS, parents b. VA. Children are Anna, age 3, b. MS, Darkiss (Dorcas), age 2, b. MS, and Beula, age 6 mos. In 1870, I looked in MS at all the black heads of household who were born in VA. Best bet is in Issaquena Co., Andy Crump, age 50, b. VA, appears to be a widower. Others in the household are Eliza, age 25, b. MS, William (Wilson?), age 18, b. MS, Leah, age 12, b. MS, Emily, age 6, b. MS, and Frances, age 8, b. MS. As Ed says, slave schedules will have to be checked for 1860 and 1850. Sandra Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: EdCrump52 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.crump/503.1.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: n2, The US Census records for the 1910 and 1900 Yalobusha Co. MS are almost impossible to read. However, Ancestry.Com has made the effort to try to interpret them. I see your William there in 1910 as being 8 years old with his father and a number of brothers and sisters. Since he is the only male there I must assume that he was named for his father, although Ancestry lists him as either Wilson or Willard. But, going back to the 1900 Census he is listed as Wilson or William. I cannot read either census so must rely on Ancestry this time. In any case, in 1910 "William" I will call him was shown as a Widower. Children's names were Elle (Ella?), Gurley (Curley?), William 8, Mile (Mille?), Mattie 5 and Fannie 4. In 1900 the census shows (William, Sr?) as born in VA in 1844. His wife was Lucy, but they were just married in 1899, so she was probably William (Jr.'s) mother and at least second wife to the father. A Black man in the 1840's and 1850's was probably a slave or the son of a slave and after the emancipation likely relocated to Mississippi. I think we should start from there. This is not going to be an easy task, but recommend we start with 1870 in Virginia and Mississippi. If we can find him in 1870, then the next step would be the slave schedules of 1850 and 1860. If we can find a William/Wilson/Willard there with any Crump family then we are in business. I would hope actually that his name was Wilson or Willard since they are both less common than William, but we will see what we will see. Think about this and let me know if ANY of these other names of siblings mean anything to you. Do not be too concerned about the spelling. Regards, and good luck! to us. 1. Re: [CRUMP] So, do you know who "Your" Crumps were?
    2. Ed Crump, Jr.
    3. There were at least three early Crumps who had descendants eventually migrating to Mississippi by the early to mid 1800's. All three of those Crumps had slaves at some point. The 1850 and 1860 slave schedules could be of some help, but will take some work to determine which ones your ancestor was attached to. Sorry I can't be of more help, but i will send you a copy of the 1850 and possibly 1860 census data for Crumps in Mississippi at that time if you will send me your direct email address. I can't put attachements here.
