These may be my ancestors George Washington REEVES and wife Ruth who according to unsourced online data was Ruth CRUMP. In R. CRUMP's household is Elizabeth (also 40) and presumably their children John (16); Manerva (14); Margaret (12); William (10); James (8); Adaline (6); Rowland (4); Mary (3); and Middleton (1). Author: cccrumpga Surnames: Crump Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.crump/684.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello Dave and Ed, I recently came across your posts and thought I'd add some info. Stephen Crump (b1788) is my great, great grandfather. I was just in Stanly County last week and spent some time at the Stanly County Public Library. I was just sent this email regarding the gravesite of Stephen Crump: "Here is the information about the Stephen Crump cemetery. One of the ladies that visit the cemetery said Steve Crump owns the property. Hope this information will help you. Directions: Hwy 52S to Norwood, turn right on Whitley Rd., bear right onto Mt. Zion Church Rd. Cemetery across road from 40083 at left edge of driveway not far from Hardy Creek. Owner: Steve Crump GPS N 35. 10. 730 W 80. 10. 039 7 unmarked stones, 10 other possible graves(some in edge of field around cemetery) Stephen Crump being buried here has been passed through family history." Also, James Bushrod Crump and John Bushrod Crump, as mentioned in an earlier post, are buried on what was once the James Cotton plantation overlooking the Yadkin River. The site is now within the Uwharrie State Forest. I have a copy of a 1956 article about the site taken from the Stanly News and Press. I found some other interesting articles regarding James and John's Revolutionary War service. Apparently, James served as a page to Gen. George Washington. Their cousin, Hannah Bushrod (b.1738-1801)married John Augustine Washington, the brother of the President. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. This if primarily for Chris (cccrumpga); Chris, I have no questions about the lineage, I only have some questions about sources for dates and a few other things. I think we can talk about this outside the rootsweb site if you don't mind. I can get down to Robert, son of Stephen, but don't have any information after that. I have some slightly different dates for Adam, Stephen, and Robert, but not significantly different. Please email me directly at edcrump@coughlinsaunders.org and we can discuss them. Thank you for your message. It could be important. 3. Mainly for Chris (cccrumpga); Chris, I didn't realize both these messages were from you. I am VERY interested in the paragraph about James and John's Revolutionary War Service. I have never been able to get anything in print about this subject, although I understand that they were both at the Battle of Guilford's Courthouse. I have also heard about James being a Page to Washington, but have never been able to find out anything about that either. Did you make copies of anything? Please email me directly about those two items as well in the other message I just sent you. Address is edcrump@coughlinsaunders.org. I would love to see that 1956 article. I know that James was in charge of the NC Militia until he died and that John Bushrod Crump, II, (his son) succedded him. I have seen pics of the Cotton Farm gravestones in the past and talked to a couple people who have actually been there. I have never been able to figure out whether this was James and John Bushrod or James and son John Bushrod, II, or John Bushrod and son James. Has anyone ever firured this out for sure? Crump. It's my opinion that Ed and Mandy Turner's son Morris is probably the father of your Morris Turner. I just don't know where he was in 1920, unless that's an error for Ed and Mandy's "son" and it should be age "1" instead of "21". The Charity Bailey in 1900 was Frank Crump's grandmother, not Mary's mother. I found a Charity Bailey in 1880, age 51, husband Alfred, in Issaquena Co., MS. They are living near a James D. Crump. Maybe J.D.F. was named after this man - James D. Frank Crump. Also, Horace Crump, born 17 Mar 1897, died Aug, 1974 in Tensas Parish, LA - from the Social Secuity Death Index. If you could get a copy of his obituary from a local newspaper, you might find relatives still alive. Sandra Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
