    3. We're ready to slowly add new generations to the five already posted on www.CrumleyFamily.org. There are some necessary restrictions on what and how we do it. None of us who are working on this project have time to input someone else's data into a genealogy software program, but that is what will be required if your data is to be added. It must be in either Family Tree Maker (FTM) or in Personal Ancestry File (PAF), or any other contemporary genealogy software that will enable you to generate a GECDOM file which can be merged with what we already have. The first person, i.e., the oldest ancestor, in the GEDCOM must be the person you're attaching your file to. As an example, Levy Marion Crumly is the fifth generation ancestor to whom I'll attach my line. Therefore Levy will be the beginning ancestor for my GEDCOM, and it'll continue down for however many generations I want to add. Personally, I don't think I'll add myself or my descendants. It may not be such a good idea to put living people on this web page even though the dates and personal data are omitted. Next, the data MUST be sourced. That should be pretty simple from the sixth generation on down. They should all be in the census with the entire family, including birthdates and place of birth. But the appropriate census or other source of info should be referenced in the data. For those of you who have all the data on your line but do not have it in a genealogy software, maybe we can find someone on the List who can help you. If anyone has time to volunteer to input a cousin's data for him/her, please post an email to that effect. It will have to be converted to a GEDCOM file to make it usable, so that's part of the deal if you "adopt" a cousin or two. You all can work out by personal email how to get the papers from the originaor to the person who'll input it. The first step, of course, is for each of you to log on to the website and see who you'll attach to. Then go from there. This isn't going to happen overnight. And to my way of thinking, we may have everything already posted that's needed., other than the branches of German descendants. Most people now days can get their ancestral line back to the 1800s and into the generations we have posted. Regards, Jerry
