    1. Re: [CRUMLEY] Crumley Central
    2. Jerry, it was so good to hear how the "big Project" is coming along. I am so thrilled that someone with a younger head than mine (or someone who isn't as worn, anyway) is doing this because it certainly needs to be done. I received a letter today RE NW Arkansas and while I was reading it, I remembered a cool thing that I thought I would share. Back in about 1976 my sister and I dropped all 6 of our young children with their dads and took her pop-up Volkswagen camper on a two week genealogy trip starting from Dallas to VA, through Arkansas and Tennessee....Knew it would be the last chance we would ever have. One day we were in the area around the David Crockett Birthplace Park and we saw many signs for a Crumley that was running for sheriff. We never tracked the man down because we got sidetracked with our Bible family about that time but I wonder if there is a soul in our group who might know who that man was? I would have been Cocke, Greene, or Sevier Counties I imagine. I would have to look up where the park is now to know. Just spinning old tails. No telling what lies in this brain if I could just "russle" it up! Linda Hays Ker Texas

    3. Linda, it seems that the Crumley you mention was probably my cousin, William "Bill Cody" Crumley. He was elected Sheriff in Carter Co. and served for about 8 years. He descends from the German Crumleys and still lives in Elizabethton, Carter Co., Tn.. Ken At 09:27 PM 05/30/2002 EDT, you wrote: >Jerry, it was so good to hear how the "big Project" is coming along.
