    2. > > Linda, would you advise me as who is this Writty (Rita) Crumley > born 6-19-1831? Where was she born and who did she belong to? I am > confused. I'm not Linda, but I have the information directly from the Hinshaw Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy. Abraham Crumley b. 3-10-1796, d. May 7 1846 New Hope MM, TN (buried New Hope Cemetery aka Quaker Knobs, Greene Co. TN) m1 Elizabeth Marshill 1-2-1817 Lick Creek MH, Greene Co TN. Elizabeth and Abraham had five children, including my gt-gt- grandmother Mary Crumley Jones. Others were Isaac, Samuel, Martha, and Asa. Dates and other info on these available if you want it. Elizabeth died 3-29-1827 at New Hope, and is buried at Quaker Knobs. Abraham then married Jane McNeese (her parents and siblings are buried at Quaker Knobs). They had 6 children: 1.Writty/Aritha/Rita (all three names show up in Hinshaw - so take your pick) b, June 19, 1831 New Hope, Greene Co TN. Married James Dunlap 1-29-1852 Blount Co. TN by Wm. M. Brickell, J.P. (marriage info from a book of Greene County TN Marriages) I don't have her children listed in my ahnentafel, but it would be in the Vol. 1 of Hinshaw. her siblings were: William Crumley b. 10-4-1833 New Hope, Greene, TN James Jones Crumley b. 4-22-1836 New Hope Greene, TN Elizabeth Chloe Crumley b. 11-14-1839 New Hope, Greene, TN Rhoda Crumley b.12-29-1841 New Hope, Greene, TN Aaron Hammer Crumley b. 12-23-1844 New Hope, Greene TN, m. N.J. Whitehead 8-18-1870, Blount Co., TN by Sam F. Bell, J.P. Writty's McNeese ancestors are in the New Hope/Quaker Knobs cemetery listings for one thing, and in Hinshaw for another. I haven't really pushed to trace that line back since she is from the second marriage, and therefore not in the same maternal blood line as mine. I do know that the Crumleys and Marshills came to TN from NC, and that many of the 11 siblings moved to Iowa at the beginning of the Civil War. You can find more information on this clan in the Iowa Quaker Records transcribed by William Wade Hinshaw and available on microfiche under the "Iowa" section at most Family History Centers. There is also a book entitled "Greene County Marriages" that has a lot of our Crumleys in it. Hope this helps a little!
