Nancy, thank you for your indepth search on this Newton (Newt) Crumley on Nevada. Let me give you some more background on this Crumley. Newton was born was born in Union Co., Ga. on 3-1-1876 to Benjamin Jasper (B.J.) and Sarah C. Addington Crumley as the youngest son and tenth child. I am very familier of this area of Union Co., as I was born in this area in 1931. Benjamin, Sarah and the family at that time moved to Cleveland, Bradley Co., Tn. around 1863 when the Civil War broke out. . On 2-18-1864, Benjamin enlisted as a Private in Co I, 12th Tn Calvary for three years in Nashville. As it was known, a lot of Eastern Tn area was divided in their loyalty. Benjamin had join the Union forces. In 12/1864, Benjamin became sick with Pneumonia and went into General Hospital in Nashvuille. Later in 1865, he was sent to his home in Jefferson Co., Indiana on a sick furlough. His family had been sent there to other Crumleys at the outset of the Civil War. He entered the General Hospital in Indianapolis. Indiana where he was honorably discharged in 2/1865. Benjamin and his family returned to Union Co. in 1866 where his siblings still lived and where the remainder of his children were born including Newton. Around 7-12-1877, Benjamin sold his 160 acres to his youngest brother, Charles Newell Jr., and migrated thru Tennessee and Indiana visiting old acquaintances and kinfolks. This move was made to get away for scorn and harassment of fellow people of Union County. By the end of 1877, Benjamin and family were in Hutchinson, Kansas and a year later they were in Kingman Co., Kansas. By late 1886, Benjamin, Sarah, and some of his family moved to Ulysses, Grant Co., Kansas where he homesteaded land. He and Sarah organized Ulysses Methodist Church. Benjamin became a Methodist minister. Here is where Newton departed from his parents going to Colorado and then to Nevada. Around 1893, Benjamin, Sarah and daughter, Sarah Ann with two grandchildren made their last move to the Cherokee Outlet Run which is now Kay Co., Oklahoma settling in Newkirk where he and Sarah died.
