    3. > Jerry, > Can you check this reference if not I will try to find it and scan it for you: > > Newberry County S.C. Historical and Genealogical Annals by Geo. L. Summer, Sr. > Page 329 That's the reference I saw, Ken. Our library here has NOTHING on Newberry Co., SC. I don't need a copy, I'd just like for someone to read that page and see if it really says that. My info comes from a typewritten xerox of a page sent me by Faustene Heilman, who got it from Billy Cox. I don't believe either one of them did the original research, so I'm just covering everybody's six. BTW, anyone on this list descended from this William Smith Crumley? Jerry

    1. [CRUMLEY] William Smith Crumley
    2. John Heilman
    3. Jerry...... I descend from William Smith Crumley and no, I did not do any research on the info re Joan Gregory. She is NOT the wife of William Smith Crumley. His wife was Elizabeth Jones Monroe, b. Nov 15, 1790 in Laurens Co., SC, d. Jan 19, 1836 in Sautee, GA. William Smith Crumley was born April 4, 1794 as third child to Charles and Parthenia Heaton Crumley of Newberry Co., SC. Charles was the second son of John Crumley, who migrated from Frederick Co., VA (now Berkeley Co., WV) to Newberry Co. in the 1770's. William Smith Crumley's father died around 1800 and his widow later married John Dalton of Newberry Co. It has been determined that William had an older sister, named Joan. After the death of his father, William went to live with his uncle, Thomas Crumley, in Spartenburg Co., SC until his marriage to Elizabeth Jones Monroe around 1813/14. Thomas carried William Smith as his son on the 1800 and 1810 Censuses of Spartenburg Co., SC. Faustene Crumley Heilman My info comes from a typewritten xerox of a page sent me by Faustene Heilman, who got it from Billy Cox.
