Is there a G.Jeff Crumley active on this list? He did some work on the Harmon P. Crumley clan; incorporated that into some of Hugh Mottern's work (THE BOOK). A member of the Pippen family of Bristol, VA passed all this info on to my aunt, Iona Crumley Sacco. Our Bristol cousin (Pippen) had picked up the line beginning with John B. Crumley m. Rebecca Jones, and did a masterful job. Her compilation includes census records of Sullivan and Carter counties (TN) ,marriage records, cemetery records in those same counties and in Washington and Scott counties (VA). She gave us the census records pertaining to Thomas Jefferson Crumley (son of John B. and Rebecca Jones Crumley) for the years 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1900. Thomas Jefferson Crumley (b. 1829) m. Nancy Ann Hickey on Dec 26, 1858. They had several children; the youngest was Herbert Jefferson Crumley m. Ethel Gay MillerAug. 11, 1904. At this point, I got interested!! Herbert J. and Ethel Gay were my grandparents - they took me into their home and helped raise me from birth. They say that it is a wise child who knows his own parentage - I certainly knew my much loved 'Big Daddy' and 'Big Mama', and that I was the great-grandchild of Thomas Jefferson Crumley. My TJC might have slipped off to Georgia or elsewhere for some brief hanky-panky, but it is doubtful that he ever travelled away from Tennessee or Southwest Virginia. I am the elderly cousin of Nancy Lambert (and I hope I'm not confused about this!). My g grandfather is her gg grandfather. Did not intend to make this so long, but this ancestry thing is confusing enough - we don't want to get our lines tangled so much that we can't land the BIG ONE!!! Nancy has my permission to submit anything I have given her, including letters, pic's,etc. And it may be that I have some stuff here that would be helpful. We shall see! Cousin Eleanor Gay
