Tricia, Well yes anything is possible. However looking at birth dates and places where they were born Truett and I think this is the best possible match. A lot of things match, for these folks were in N. Central GA just over the mountain from Truetts folks in White and Habersham Countys. If Billy Cox has a copy of that newspaper article about the shooting, I would be for ever grateful to all for a copy of it. If it says that Willian Erwin was the nephew of John the man he murdered then I have a direct link back. It is the one piece of paper that may make my line complete. Even if I have the name of the newspaper would help. The University at Athens has a big project on to gather copies of every newspaper ever published in GA. I went there last year, but since I did not know the paper I could not find anything. They are not indexed either. We have put out several feelers to try and find Donna Cooper, but no luck so far. The web site in Newberry lists an e-mail address but it is not valid now. Thanks for thinking of this broken link for me. On the Valentine question, I have not seen any data that would find any of his offspring up in Fannin, Union, Gilmer, Murray counties or in Polk Co. Tenn which is just across the state line from these other counties. Hello Everyone, Sorry but I have been off line for about two weeks and just now getting caught up. There was never a copy of the newspaper on the murder. I copied it from a reference book somewhere. I'll go through my files and see if I can find it. I'm afraid what has been put out about this murder is all there is, unless you can locate the Newspaper that printed it. It was probably from Gorden or Habersham County, Georgia, but I'll check. Thomas Crumley who lived in Gorden County Georgia in 1850 had a number of children, but two of them was Mary, who married William Anderson Cox, and Erwin. I show Erwin as having a son, John Elwood Crumley, who married Susan Cox. John Elwood Crumley and Susan Cox had to be cousins. Susan was the daughter of William Anderson Cox and Mary Crumley. William Anderson and Mary Crumley named one of their sons, my Grandfather, William Ervin Cox. I hope I haven't made a mess of this. I'll look for that article. I have searched Georgia files in the past with no luck. Billy Cox [email protected]
