Ella, I think the census info you related to Melissa (Missy) is the family of Jesse Chapel Crumley who was the uncle of Chapel Columbus. Chapel was a younger brother of my g grandfather Sidney Smith Crumley. Jesse Chapel was born in Habersham Co., Ga. in 1828. Jesse Chapel was the youngest brother of Charles Heaton Crumley (my gg grandfather). Jesse Chapel served in the Civil War CSA and afterwards he and his family moved westard from Ga.. I find that Jesse Chapel worked for L & N Railroad out of Nashville, Tn in Birmingham, Al. as a boilmaker from 1888 thru 1890. Jesse died 1-28-1914. I have been unable to determine where and where he is buried. This info given by Ella must be of his possible second marriage as Lucianda could have died. His first marriage was to Lucianda Stower of Habersham Co., Ga. having four children: William (b 1848); Charles D. (b 1850); Martha (b 1852); and Tennesse (1854). All born in Ga. According to Ella`s info, a 50 year old Jesse married to a 22 old woman Elizabeth. Could Elizabeth have been older than 22? The children of his first marriage could have already been married.
