Hi Rest assured, I wouldn't sue anybody for copying my father's book and selling it over the Internet. For one thing, I have no inventory, therefore no monetary loss. At $25.00, I'm only trying to recover my expenses, which include packaging and mailing. However, if anybody can do it cheaper, you have my support. My only interest is to share my father's work. If he were alive today, he would be very excited about your interest in the Crumley line. Hugh, Jr.
I agree that we need to keep in text, also as simple as possible as not everyone has computers that can do frames and the fancy stuff. Maybe have a page that would list members homepages etc with brief summery of what is on the homepage, like photos, other families genealogy. Just my 2 cents. Tricia
Ken- I'm trying to backtrack where my information came from, I find the Ervin Crumley m. ?Taylor on the family sheet I got from Truett, it was original from Bill Cox. also found an email where Donna Cooper listed John Elwood as a son of Erwin Crumley m. ? Taylor. Bill Cox is the one who told me original about the killing of John Crumbly, as an aside to all the spellings of our last name. "Note from a Georgia newspaper, "In Fammin county, recently, John Crumbly was murdered by William Erwin Crumbly." January 18, 1858 I guess the question now is where's Bill, I'm working on getting some information on Boyd Avery for him, now that I'm retired and can travel to where the records are. Is possible that some of these other Crumley-Crumlys Curmbly etc might be the off spring of Valentine's children, not the George line, or maybe James Crumley's brother Thomas? Tricia
Tricia, I have a John E. Crumley married 6/25/1886 to an Emily Godfrey, I have not been able to connect this John E. to a line. Could this be the same John Elwood with another wife?? Ed, So does this mean that this is a separate Crumley line coming into the states in the late 1870's? Have you found them arriving on any passenger lists for that time period? Comments? Yes I had seen that the other day in one of your postings to me. Well here is the problem with these twins. If Margaret's husband William Erwin shot her grandfather in 1858 and Margaret moved back home to her parents, then might these twins be the children of Margaret instead of Charlotte? Truett Crumley says that all of Charles Thomas Crumley family moved to MO somewhere around this time. He even has a wife's name for William Erwin. So do the dates in the Witzel family line support that these children are children of Margaret not of her mother Charlotte? My data is not that good here because I had to assume a birthdate for Charlotte (b.abt. 1821) I do know for 100% accurate that John Witzel and Charlotte attended the wedding of her brother, and my ggrandfather William Oliver to Elizabeth Angeline Patterson. So I know her maiden name was Crumbly. What do the Witzel researchers say is the birthdate of William Erwin or Margaret Witzel???? Comments? Wow! Great! and thank you Laurie for being willing to take on such a huge job. My nomination for Jerry to chair a committee to layout the Crumley Central site is still in motion. We now have our Web Mistress to work with the committee and let them know how it's done. So, if there is a group forming, I'd say go for it. And thanks again Laurie, how wonderful of you Arlettia Crumley Fyfe ----- Original Message ----- From: "Laurie Ann Wells" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, April 11, 2002 3:55 PM Subject: Re: [CRUMLEY] Web Site > Hi Arlettia & All! > I have talked to Jerry and volunteered to set up & host the site on my > domain...just need to know what format everyone, or chairpersons, would > prefer...creative, generic, etc? > Sincerely, > Laurie > > > At 05:50 PM 04/11/2002 -0600, you wrote: > >Hello List > > Back to the "Crumley Central" web site. Hello List Back to the "Crumley Central" web site. As a member of one, I'd like to nominate Jerry as chairman of a committee to layout a website and find a web master/mistress and a web committee to govern the site. I feel that Jerry knows more about whose on the list and what their qualifications are in this area than most of us. We need members that know how to set up web sites and a plan to manage it. It seems evident that almost everyone is in favor of having this site, so a committee to lay it out would be the next move. The committee chairman would name his own committee if he's willing to take on the job. Jerry will you accept my nomination? And list members will you please submit your nominations so we can elect our chairman and start developing our new site. Thank you Arlettia Crumley Fyfe
> Jerry will you accept my nomination? Let me get back to you on that, please. I was kind of hoping someone else would step up to the plate and take a bite of this. Jerry
> I have talked to Jerry and volunteered to set up & host the site on my > domain...just need to know what format everyone, or chairpersons, would > prefer...creative, generic, etc? Before we really get into this, let me remind everyone that some of our list subscribers live in non-urban areas, and their modem speeds don't support downloading lots of graphics every time they log onto a website. For example, my sister and her family live in an area where they're lucky to get 28Kbd when they're online. Usually it's less. So, no graphics. It's got to be text without pictures at least for the beginning. Each person will be able to create their own mini-site if they want, and add all the whistles, bell, pictures and sounds (bagpipes, perhaps) that they want. I'll get back to everyone on some other inputs. I'm still talking off line with some folks who have a lot of research experience. Jerry
Hi Arlettia & All! I have talked to Jerry and volunteered to set up & host the site on my domain...just need to know what format everyone, or chairpersons, would prefer...creative, generic, etc?
