    3. Jerry, My gggrandfather Copeland drove a stage couch from Collinsville to Rising Fawn GA. This part of the country across from Collinsville to Rising Fawn has some huge mountains. And north GA from there on over to Union Co. GA is even more so. Robert must have been in very good health to walk from Birmingham to there.....Highway 11 does go to Collinsville. There is a road from Collinsville that goes up the mountain that you can still drive up. It is narrow and has many curves. We were on it a year or so ago. This road goes by Copeland Bridge community. Billie Crumly might know the name of it. Help, will someone please send me the documentation for this marriage. Arlettia Crumley Fyfe

    3. Has anyone, most likely the Crossville, AL, cousins, ever heard of the Old Gregory road? It stretched from what is now Birmingham up towards northern GA. I can't find mention of it on any websites. It was 1870 vintage, probably a very narrow, wagon road that passed near Collinsville, AL. From a modern road map it looks like it would have followed I-59 or US-11. Jerry

Here are some excerpts: "Some of the pioneers walked to and from Georgia to visit relatives after the War. The old "Gregory" road across Sand Mountain and by the present town of Collinsville was their route. Robert Crumly, and aged pioneer, made several trips by foot. He was physically able to make the trip by stopping in Collinsville with relatives." Here is an excerpt from a letter he wrote back to C.W. (Wesley) Crumley and his family back in Alabama while he (Robert) was in Union County on a visit: Union County, Georgia April 28th, 1870 <snip> I don't want to stay here another winter. It is too cold for me here but I suppose I shall have to stay until Fall. The girls want to leave here and they can't fix to leave till Fall. As Ken says, They would have been on up in age and I am sure they could not put in a garden, and there were no cash crops unless they had some cows. In 1870 Sallie would have been about 60 and no telling what kind of health problems. Bennie Catherine's book was written in 1950. I'm assuming someone has the original letter Robert wrote, since she put a transcription into her book. I also assume the letter belongs to someone in C.W. 3. Hello I can't say for sure where the information came from that James was born in 1712 in Yorkshire. In the same genealogy done for my Grandfather it states that "James came from Yorkshire, England." Just like this same works said he had a son named James Jr. No documentation. The information is not supported. As there are many mistakes in this works, if anyone is using it for their documentation, please email me. I have worked with this history and spent some time proving or disproving what's in it. I believe Truett has found who he believes to be James' parents, and he gave a film number, if I remember correctly. Maybe, Truett, you could elaborate on this as it may be the documentation we need. The company doing this genealogy for my Grandfather were suppose to be professionals and they included this history along with many others in a 16 volume history called " Colonial and Revolutionary Linages of America". Hope this sheds some light on where some information has come from Arlettia Crumley Fyfe
