Ken, I like your 106 MSWorks, it has given me some ideas to handle all this data. Everyone, if your not on the list, I'm sorry, I have trouble keeping up with all the new people on, will try to update the Who's Who as I have more time, the one sent is what I have in my Word program at this time. Tricia, If I send you a database file with the 1850 Crum**'s on it can you sort it and use it for various things. If so then we may have a leg up on what you want to do. I would have to add a couple of fields to handle the info you want on the database but that is no big deal. It currently is in M/S Works database file format. If yoiu have M/S Works then yoiu can open the file. I am not really a Crumley researcher, but I have a Crumley question. My ggg grandfather in Greene County, Tennessee was James E. Pierce. He was married at least three times: 1) Anny Green (my line), 2) Mary (Polly) Doty, and 3) Experience (Spriddy) Wells. James E. Pierce was enumerated in the 1850 and 1860 censuses in Greene County, Tennessee with his third wife Experience (Spriddy) Wells. He was enumerated in the 1870 census with his (apparent) wife Elizabeth. I am trying to figure out if there was an enumerator's error and Elizabeth was really Experience Wells, or if James Pierce married a fourth time. His last child was born about 1863. There is a Greene County, Tennessee marriage James Pierce to Elizabeth Crumley, 13 Aug 1865. I do not have a date of death for James Pierce, except that it was after the 1870 census. I do not have a date of death for Experience Wells, except that it was after the 1860 census (and maybe after the 1870 census, if "Elizabeth" in the 1870 census was really Experience). I have been trying to figure out who Elizabeth Crumley was who married James Pierce in 1865 in Greene County. There were at least two James Pierces in Greene County at the time -- my James E. Pierce (b. about 1804), and his son James W. Pierce (b. about 1842). I have found James W. Pierce in both the 1850 and 1860 censuses, but he seems to drop off the face of the earth after that. Experience Wells was born about 1821. Elizabeth, the apparent wife of James Pierce in the 1870 census was born about 1821. So the dates are consistent with two people being the same person. But if the 1870 Elizabeth was not the same person as Experience Wells, then we know that Elizabeth was born about 1821. I can't find any Elizabeth Crumleys in the 1850 or 1860 census who look like good candidates to have been born about 1821 and to have married James E. Pierce in 1865. On the other hand, if it was a younger Elizabeth Crumley who married a different James Pierce (presumably James E. Pierce's son James W. Pierce), then I can't find them in the 1870 or 1880 census. Jerry, your Benjamin did not have a son by the name of William Smith. If he did marry a Joan Gregory, he would had a child at his age of 14. UNLIKELY. The Benjamin who was a brother to my William Smith did have a son, William Smith (b. 1829). This William Smith was the sixth child of Benjamin and Margaret Brooks. Ken, the Benjamin Crumley born 1779 is the youngest child of John Cromley(Crumley). This Benjamin was the only son of John that was born in Newberry Co., SC. William Smith that was born in 1794 was the youngest child of Charles Cromley (Crumley) (John` second son and child). This William Smith is my anncester. Benjamin of 1779 in Jerry`s ancestor. If Benjamin H. was born in 8/20/1779 and William Smith was born April 04, 1794 then Benjamin would have been 14 years old???? Would Quakers let their kids marry that early??
