    1. Re: [CRUMLEY] Jim Crumley from Arkansas
    2. Dear Diane: My Crumley family is from NW Arkansas about 1835 from Greene County, TN. It would make good sense that the name Jim would come right on down the line. My gr gr grandfather was "Jim" James Murray Inks and his Mom was Eliza Crumley. She and her family and others from Greene County migrated together. She and Jack Inks were married in Washington County in 1837 I think...don't remember! She had brothers and probably cousins too. Anyway, if it is me you were addressing, I would love to just know if the article or magazine says anything else about him that might help me find him. Thank you, Linda

It has/had several good schools and the Medical School was particularly well known. I have since had reason to learn of the School of Philosophy and Mathematics. I think since it had been an established University for such a long time had a lot to do with it. Anyway, I thought I would put my two cents in about this. Many of our early Physicians were educated there, including my husband's ancestor, Dr. David Corbin Ker of Fredricksburg, VA and later of New Orleans, LA where he died in 1841 after having served under Andrew Jackson as his Surgeon General in the War of 1812 and the Battle of New Orleans. I had folks from the mountains of VA and TN in my background and I am just as proud as I can be of them! Linda Hays Ker, a native Texan!

    1. [CRUMLEY] Re:Crumley-L Who's Who /Correction, please
    2. Dear Ruth: To tell you the truth, I was mostly concerned that the Samuel Crumley> forward be corrected. I didn't even go back to proofread the first part of that list. You can consider that to be of the CRUMLEY LINE origin until I have time to look this up for you. It has been years now since I researched this line-probably since the 1970s, but I know my documentation on what I do have is there. I really do not remember if I submitted that information about his parentage or if someone just added me to it.....I will look for you however, if you will bear with me. As you may have noted, someone may have just shot holes in my Samuel part too and I have been quite sure of that for a llllooonnnnggggg time! I will be getting back to you. Thanks for your inquiry, Linda Hays Ker

    1. Re: [CRUMLEY] Fw: relitives
    2. Jerry, I actually know very little about my Moore line. I know that he was in the Civil War (Confederate side) and have his papers on that. Then he married my gr gr grandmother Henry and they moved out of MO to NW Arkansas and then to Burnet Co. Texas. His name is/was James T. Moore. Because I have done research in spite of family events and not at leisure! for many years. My research has been intense but not real broad. If any of this looks fertile or if you want to know particulars like County names, etc., just let me know. I would love to find out more about him and I do know a little more than I am writing now. Thanks for your interest, Linda PS: My health has not been real "groovy" lately so I haven't kept up real well. The intent is there, however. I can assure you of that! lhk

    2. > > Linda, would you advise me as who is this Writty (Rita) Crumley > born 6-19-1831? Where was she born and who did she belong to? I am > confused. I'm not Linda, but I have the information directly from the Hinshaw Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy. Abraham Crumley b. 3-10-1796, d. May 7 1846 New Hope MM, TN (buried New Hope Cemetery aka Quaker Knobs, Greene Co. TN) m1 Elizabeth Marshill 1-2-1817 Lick Creek MH, Greene Co TN. Elizabeth and Abraham had five children, including my gt-gt- grandmother Mary Crumley Jones. Others were Isaac, Samuel, Martha, and Asa. Dates and other info on these available if you want it. Elizabeth died 3-29-1827 at New Hope, and is buried at Quaker Knobs. Abraham then married Jane McNeese (her parents and siblings are buried at Quaker Knobs). They had 6 children: 1.Writty/Aritha/Rita (all three names show up in Hinshaw - so take your pick) b, June 19, 1831 New Hope, Greene Co TN. Married James Dunlap 1-29-1852 Blount Co. TN by Wm. M. Brickell, J.P. (marriage info from a book of Greene County TN Marriages) I don't have her children listed in my ahnentafel, but it would be in the Vol. 1 of Hinshaw. her siblings were: William Crumley b. 10-4-1833 New Hope, Greene, TN James Jones Crumley b. 4-22-1836 New Hope Greene, TN Elizabeth Chloe Crumley b. 11-14-1839 New Hope, Greene, TN Rhoda Crumley b.12-29-1841 New Hope, Greene, TN Aaron Hammer Crumley b. 12-23-1844 New Hope, Greene TN, m. N.J. Whitehead 8-18-1870, Blount Co., TN by Sam F. Bell, J.P. Writty's McNeese ancestors are in the New Hope/Quaker Knobs cemetery listings for one thing, and in Hinshaw for another. I haven't really pushed to trace that line back since she is from the second marriage, and therefore not in the same maternal blood line as mine. I do know that the Crumleys and Marshills came to TN from NC, and that many of the 11 siblings moved to Iowa at the beginning of the Civil War. You can find more information on this clan in the Iowa Quaker Records transcribed by William Wade Hinshaw and available on microfiche under the "Iowa" section at most Family History Centers. There is also a book entitled "Greene County Marriages" that has a lot of our Crumleys in it. Hope this helps a little!
