My brick wall is the INKS/CRUMLEY groom and he was born in Carter County-obviously a virgin birth, yes another of those. You can imagine how thrilled my sister and I were to see his campaign signs! I wonder if he and I are related? I have never understood how this family is made up so I will be really glad when we get this new site "up" and running so I can clearly see it! Thanks for telling me. I will send this on to my sister whose screen name is Frenchbroad!! Nobody believes that is a river name! Linda Hays Ker Texas
Ken Hodges, do you have any further info on this William (Bill Cody) Crumley who is a descent of George B. Crumley Sr of Sullivan Co., Tn? Did he marry and have any children? My morning newspaper's genealogy column mentioned two records which are available, one a book and the other a CD. I just want to see if anyone on this list has either one.. We've all been searching for years for a record of James Crumley's arrival in PA. Michael Tepper's book, "Emigrants to Pennsylvania, 1641-1819" provides in a single volume a consolidation of the entire body of passenger lists, as found in multiple issues of the "Pennsylvania Magazine of History and Biography." The book identifies about 6,000 immigrants, primarily British and German indentured servants and apprentices. "Immigrants to Pennsylvania" is a CD containing full page images of nine books documenting early PA arrivals. Tepper's book is one of the ones on the CD. Others are books which also contain immigration records such as arrival lists, oaths of allegiance, etc. These two items are put out by Genealogical Publishing Company in Baltimore. Has anyone seen either of these two resources to look for James? Jerry

If this thing comes to fruition, most of the credit will belong to Ken Crumbly. He keeps prodding at this hornet's nest of data. I ran a GEDCOM on my latest file, and I believe it contains in excess of 1,700 names. Most of that came from Ken's research. Jerry
Well, it was worth a try but this is not a connection for me. Thank you for your help! Darlene
Jerry, it was so good to hear how the "big Project" is coming along. I am so thrilled that someone with a younger head than mine (or someone who isn't as worn, anyway) is doing this because it certainly needs to be done. I received a letter today RE NW Arkansas and while I was reading it, I remembered a cool thing that I thought I would share. Back in about 1976 my sister and I dropped all 6 of our young children with their dads and took her pop-up Volkswagen camper on a two week genealogy trip starting from Dallas to VA, through Arkansas and Tennessee....Knew it would be the last chance we would ever have. One day we were in the area around the David Crockett Birthplace Park and we saw many signs for a Crumley that was running for sheriff. We never tracked the man down because we got sidetracked with our Bible family about that time but I wonder if there is a soul in our group who might know who that man was? I would have been Cocke, Greene, or Sevier Counties I imagine. I would have to look up where the park is now to know. Just spinning old tails. No telling what lies in this brain if I could just "russle" it up! Linda Hays Ker Texas

Hi, I am not sure what snail mail is.....my address is 5417 Mormon Tr. FT Worth, TX 76137. It certainly could be helpful. I have learned to travel all the roads that come my way when genealogy is involved! I appreciate your help. Thank you, Darlene
This Crumley was born to Chapple Columbus Crumley of Driftwood, Hayes Co., Tx on 2-27-1889. He married Birdie Hildebrand in Hayes Co.. He died in Austin, Travis Co., Tx. and is buried in Austin Memorial Park. I would like info as to date of his marriage. I need the date of his death. Also I want all info about his children (births, birthplace, marriages, occupations, deaths, and burials) I need the occupation of Albert Roland. He was the ninth child of Chapple Columbus. Let me hear from someone ASAP. Truett Sr. Regards Truett W. Crumley Sr. [email protected]
Currently we are looking at several genealogy databases trying to merge them into one central file. It appears that "us" Crumleys are using a variety of programs and some have their data in a word processor format. The conversion of these different formats has slowed the process down somewhat. The data which is text has to be input to a genealogy software. However, we are now working on a massive Central file which initially will include all Ken's, Paul's and my data. We'll subsequently add to that file. Once that is complete, a test site will be constructed, and after some debugging of the central file it will be reformatted to something that all of us can read. Hopefully we can then make inquires into the central database for correcting problem areas in your own personal file. There will be a process of validation for any necessary corrections. This is a "labor of love" so please bear with us during this formative process. We do sleep and eat and some even wor... wor... work. It is so hard for some of us to pronounce that word now. In the meantime, a database of 1850 Crumleys has been constructed that does NOT use a genealogy program, but rather uses a Microsoft Works data base application. Most of you probably have this application program on your computers. You may not realize this since it is bundled in with a spreadsheet, address book, word processor etc. If you would like an e-mail of this file to see if you can open it (double click on the attachment) please send Ken an e-mail directly, outside the bulletin board, and he will attach this 1850 Crumley file in an e-mail to you. His e-mail is <[email protected]> If you have additions to the 1850 database please forward to Ken the additions using the identical format that is in the database. Paul Nichols is to be thanked for the idea and first set of Crumleys for the 1850 database file. This is a valuable tool for researchers. You can sort the Crumleys in the 1850 census by state, county, age, first name, etc. If you're looking for someone who should have been counted in 1850, you'll love this database. The Klez virus is very active and costly to get rid of in a hard drive. If you have not updated your anti-virus program and run a scan with the update, please do so immediately. If you do not have an anti-virus program that is current please do not open any attachments unless you know the sender and have specifically requested that person to send it to you. The Klez is very rampant across the country. Regards, Jerry
