    3. To Larry Dickerson and Paul Nichols. Paul, you mentioned a James Crumley (Irish immigrant) being born 1801 migrated to Harrison Co., Ohio in your E-Mail of 4-20-2002 (Paul). Was this James born in America? Do you and Larry have any additional info on this CRUMLEY? Also Thomas brothers (Aaron ans Stephen) migrated to Harrison Co and Stephen moved on to Greene Co., Ohio. If you or Larry have additional info on this JAMES CRUMLEY, please let me hear from you. 3. Tricia, Capt. Madison Florida Crumley MD was the oldest son and second child to William Monroe and Sarah McClain Crumley, born about 1840 in Madison, Florida where is father was serving his first minsterial charge in the Methodist faith. William named most of his boys after cities where he was serving a charge at their birth. Madison received his medical training from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta, Georgia graduating in 1860. This school is one of the oldest medical college in Georgia and still exist today. Madison practiced medicine in Atlanta, then went to Oglethorpe, Macon Co., Ga. where he was a doctor, druggist, and Mayor. He also had a home in Atlanta just across (west) from the stadiums Old Fulton County and Turner Field which he inherited from his father. Have you been to Atlanta? Madison married Laura J. Robinson of a well-to-do family in Oglethorpe. Madison served in the Army of Northern Virginia CSA along with my great grandfather Sidney Smith Crumley and his brother George. Madison got wounded and captured in Ceder Creek, Virginia (a major battle) along with Sidney. George died from wounds. Madison died on 5-29-1912 as a disabled Confederate soldier. Laura died 1-18-1910. Both buried in City Cemetery. No children have been located. 3. This website, which most of you have visited at one time or other, is the LDS site for searching their files. http://www.familysearch.org/ At the top is a list of menu items, one of which is "Order/Download Products". If you click on that item, it takes you to a page where you see a list of items, one of which is "Software Downloads - Free". Clicking on that takes you to the page where you can download, for free, a copy of Personal Ancestral File (PAF). The top one on the list, PAF 5.2 is the one you want. It can be downloaded and used free. It's very user friendly and almost self explanatory. For those who would like to have a very good genealogy software, this is a good option. Jerry

    3. We're ready to slowly add new generations to the five already posted on www.CrumleyFamily.org. There are some necessary restrictions on what and how we do it. None of us who are working on this project have time to input someone else's data into a genealogy software program, but that is what will be required if your data is to be added. It must be in either Family Tree Maker (FTM) or in Personal Ancestry File (PAF), or any other contemporary genealogy software that will enable you to generate a GECDOM file which can be merged with what we already have. The first person, i.e., the oldest ancestor, in the GEDCOM must be the person you're attaching your file to. As an example, Levy Marion Crumly is the fifth generation ancestor to whom I'll attach my line. Therefore Levy will be the beginning ancestor for my GEDCOM, and it'll continue down for however many generations I want to add. Personally, I don't think I'll add myself or my descendants. It may not be such a good idea to put living people on this web page even though the dates and personal data are omitted. Next, the data MUST be sourced. That should be pretty simple from the sixth generation on down. They should all be in the census with the entire family, including birthdates and place of birth. But the appropriate census or other source of info should be referenced in the data. For those of you who have all the data on your line but do not have it in a genealogy software, maybe we can find someone on the List who can help you. If anyone has time to volunteer to input a cousin's data for him/her, please post an email to that effect. It will have to be converted to a GEDCOM file to make it usable, so that's part of the deal if you "adopt" a cousin or two. You all can work out by personal email how to get the papers from the originaor to the person who'll input it. The first step, of course, is for each of you to log on to the website and see who you'll attach to. Then go from there. This isn't going to happen overnight. And to my way of thinking, we may have everything already posted that's needed., other than the branches of German descendants. Most people now days can get their ancestral line back to the 1800s and into the generations we have posted. Regards, Jerry
