    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: broshire Surnames: Jones, Killough, Cruce Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.cruce/140.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have not been successful in tracking the background of Jesse R. Jones. He seems to have come out of South Carolina. I believe he was in Kentucky, and probably knew the Cruce family before they all emigrated to Tennessee. I believe they settled in the Fayette County area. They also traveled with members of the Killough family (Hannah was Hannah Pomeroy Killough) and must have gone down to Marshall County, Mississippi before going on to Texas. There is at least one published genealogy on the family of Hannah Pomeroy Killough Jones; you could probably Google her name and come up with all sorts of stuff. As you are probably very much aware, searching for anyone named "Jones" in those early records is a frustrating endeavor. I do have some information in my files at home on the many children of Jesse and Hannah. When I return home in about 3 weeks, send me a reminder e-mail to look up the information for you.
