He was married to Hannah E Crowther (nee Townsend)aged 42, and they had a son named Philip Townsend Crowther aged 17, and a daughter Constance H Crowther (aged 16). According to the records Philip later became a Lieutenant of the 211th Field Company Royal Engineers but was killed in action on the 5th May 1917 and is buried in plot North A2 in the Albuera Cemetry,Bailleul-Sire-Berthoult Pas de Calais France.
