There are records of at least two generations with males by the name of Whiteley Crowther in the same area. I believe that it was common practice for the first-born son to be given the forename of the mother's maiden name and sometimes the son of such a male would bear the same name. Hence, the first son of father A.B and mother C.D would bear the name of D.B as would the first son of D.B. ----Original Message Follows---- From: [email protected] Reply-To: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: [CROWTHER] Crowther and Normanton Date: 21 Feb 2006 13:30:49 -0700 This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
