I have a copy of the 1836 will of Martha CROWTHER of the borough of St Pancras in the county of Middlesex (now in Greater London England). It is very hard to decipher. I believe she may have been the mother of Martha CROWTHER who married Dennis SAVAGE Old Church St Pancras in 1825. Is anyone else reseaching CROWTHER from the same area. I have collected details of over 200 descendants of Jonathan CROWTHER (1759-1824) a Northowram, Halifax man who became one of the early leading figures in Wesleyan Methodism. I would be interested to hear from anyone researching his brothers Timothy (1757-1829) and Robert (1762-1833) who were also Methodist Preachers. They all trained in Northowram but spent their careers on-circuit and in a new station anywhere in the British Isles every year or two, so despite having large families, they rarely left many records in any one place. HELLO SURNAME LISTERS I am trying to locate the above family and descendants. JOHN CROWTHER, an engine driver , whose birth location and date I do not know, but it is in the above areas. He married HANNAH NORMANTON from Ovenden, Halifax, and they had two children, NORMANTON, and HERBERT, born 1865 and 1869 respectively. The family lived at Hangingroyd, Hebden Bridge, in 1881, and John had died by this time. The IGI shows other names in Hannah's family, were LASSEY and CHARNOCK. I am of Herbert's line. I have lost Normanton. I know he was an engineer/stationery engine driver, married Hannah Wilkinson, and had two three children, Dorothy, Hilda Mary, and James.
