I appreciate that. I think that I'll order her death certificate. Yes, I would like to have the photos of the gravestone and any information that you have about where George and Ann (Rathbone) Crowther are buried. If you find out anything else about their married life etc., I would be interested to know. I think that Ann went to live with and keep house for another of her (half) brothers, William Rathbone, after George Crowther died. William Rathbone was a minister in Burnley and he married George and Ann in 1935. (William's wife died very young and he didn't re-marry as far as I know.) William died in 1963 as well. He died at Cranford Lodge Hospital at Knutsford, but I don't know where he is buried and he didn't have any surviving children as far as I know. I've written a few inquiries and done some internet searching for William's grave, but so far I've had no luck. It would not surprise me if the grave is unmarked or to learn that he is in a public grave. The information on the birth of Annie Crowther born 1914 ... This came from a search of the BMD and it shows the maiden name of the child's mother as Townsend. But, I don't know anything else about this child, I'm sorry to say. If you would like to have the marriage certificate of George and Ann, please let me know. Marie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I know Ann died 2 nd Jan 1963 at age 69 and George died 22 nd May 1942 age 68. I have photos of their grave stone as they are buried together near blackpool from what I remember but can verify with my dad if this helps you at all. George died before my father was born and he doesn't seem to know much about him. Where did you find the information on Annie? Would be interested to know about her as I am sure my father did not know there was a third child. I do have photos of John and Edith if these are any use to you? She was the half sister of my grandfather. Ann didn't have any children as far as I know. I was asking about the Crowther family as I am curious about George and Ann. (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?rank=1&new=1&MSAV=1&gss=angs-g&gsfn=thomas&gsfn_x=NN&gsln=crowther&gsln_x=XO&msbdy=1791&msbpn__ftp=Lancashire, England&msbpn=5271&msbpn_PInfo=7-|0|0|3257|3251|0|0|0|5271|0|0|&cpxt=1&catBucket=rstp&uidh=3h5&cp=11&mssng0=betty&pcat=ROOT_CATEGORY&h=2685639&recoff=9 10 29&db=ManchesterMarriagesCRO&indiv=1&ml_rpos=14). They appear in the 1841 census in Todmorden with their children Sally, John, Margaret and Crossley, and granddaughter Ann (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=uki1841&indiv=try&h=5681116). By the 1851 census, Betty had died and Thomas was living in Todmorden with his daughter Sally and her daughter Ann. He is listed as a farmer of a small farm (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=uki1851&indiv=try&h=10563372). They lived next door to son Crossley, his wife Mary and their children, Betty and Sarah; and to son John Crowther and his wife Sarah. Crossley and John were weavers. By 1861, Thomas, aged 72, was living alone in Todmorden, a retired farmer. (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=uki1851&indiv=try&h=10563372) Betty Crossley (1793-1845) was the daughter of John Crossley (1761-1797) and Betty Maskew (1758-1838), both of Walsden, Lanc. Betty's siblings were Samuel, John and William Crossley. If you follow the ancestors of John Crossley (1761-1797) shown in this tree (http://trees.ancestry.co.uk/tree/47757862/family?cfpid=12898618076&selnode=1), they seem to be able to trace them back to Adam del Croslegh in 1310 (http://trees.ancestry.co.uk/tree/47757862/person/13007355002?pgNum=1)! http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=uki1871&indiv=try&h=27979159 Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
