    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: DonPMitchell Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.crouse/720.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The History of the Crouse Family was written by my grandfather, John H. Crouse. The story of Hannah is told in the family, but it originates in his book and his research. It's unclear that any of the geneology of Hannah is accurate, either the claim she was a Crouse or that she was a Perkins. There are claims she was born in Maine, born in Vermont, that she was from Rome Maine, or from Smithfield Maine (two different Hannah Perkins). But I've found no document giving Hannah Battersby's maiden name. The 1880 census indicates her grandparents were born in Germany and England, but that is not the case with the Rome and Smithfield families. My conclusion is that the Find A Grave and Ancestry.com information about Hannah Battersby is all highly unreliable. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
