Kathy, Where to begin? Your post was 62 pages total. I'm reluctant, but here goes... For a long while now, I have wished we had a site where we could put a Crosthwait family file that would be accessible to interested parties. I envision a site where the file could, and would, be updated as new information/documentation becomes available. There are, of course, many files (GEDCOMs) floating around with all kinds of errors and assumptions (my opinion), most with sketchy documentation and few contain the same information. I rather doubt we (meaning everyone) would agree on every point - but, so what...at least we could all shoot at it. For example, I have been asked why my information differs from that posted on the internet by Jo Thiessen and Bob Ballard. The answer is - I really don't know. I can only assume that both Jo and Bob are happy with the information they have posted and they choose not to include certain family branches/information. I have tried to communicate with Bob Ballard. He has never answered my e-mail to him, so I gave up on Bob. I have other things to do. Jo Thiessen has been kind enough to host this mail list. I'm sure you are aware the list has not been, well, very active. I can't account for that lack of activity. If only a few of the notes I receive about Crosthwaits (et. al.) were posted to this list, it would be hyper-active. But, I'm not in the business of forcing the issue of using any particular means of communicating. I tried promoting the use of this Crosthwaite mail list. I'm only a participant - far from being a expert or whatever. I would like to see this list become a forum such as the Dugger or Johnson County, TN mail lists. Those lists work. People communicate, and accomplish things through participation. I don't think I have the energy, time, or expertise to do what I would like to see done. So I have no right to wish, or expect, that someone would do it because I think it should be done. By the way, I am personally opposed to publishing the names of living individuals without their knowledge and/or consent. Off Box. Now, your question about William Crosthwaite and Ann Shelton. I believe this issue was best addressed, and documented, by Frank S. and Carol D. Crosswhite in volume 6, page 263-265, "Crosthwaite Chronicle". I do not have independent information that would disprove what they have written. I do not believe we know who the father was of the William Crosthwait who married Ann Shelton. Therefore, in my file, I have the father of this William Crosthwait listed as TBD (To Be Determined) Crosthwait. I'm sending the subscription information in a separate note. Burt
