WORLEY TAYLOR CROSSWHITE Joseph Turney Crosswhite, Jr. recently posted births of a number of Crosswhites, including Worley T. Crosswhite, born June 22, 1880 at Mountain City [Johnson County], Tennessee. We recalled a tombstone for Worley Taylor Crosswhite in East Hill Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia. From the stones in this cemetery it would appear that Worley Taylor Crosswhite married Lelia Warren and that they had children Warren Fuller Crosswhite, Hazel Clay Crosswhite, Worley Taylor Crosswhite, Jr. and Alfred P. Crosswhite. Data on the stones is as follows: Worley Taylor Crosswhite, June 22, 1880 - November 5, 1947. WOW and VFW. Lelia Warren Crosswhite, March 18, 1877 - June 10, 1957. Ladies Auxiliary, VFW. Warren Fuller Crosswhite, November 19, 1908 - March 26, 1916. Hazel Clay Crosswhite, October 1, 1914 - May 4, 1926. Worley Taylor Crosswhite, Jr., March 16, 1916 - April 3, 1916. Second Lieutenant Alfred P. Crosswhite, 0-789797, born April 7, 1917, killed in action December 15, 1972. Buried in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, grave 361-361A-361B Section 79, St. Louis, Missouri. We have a faint memory that the local VFW there may be called the Worley Taylor Crosswhite Post. Is this memory true? The gravestone reads WOW and VFW which would indicate that Worley Taylor Crosswhite was a member of Woodmen of the World and Veteran of Foreign Wars. Frank S.
