So we repeated the > directions again to subscribe. Let us know if this has been successful. The message I got from the server was that the initial attempt was unsuccessful. I think the reason this and some others have had a problem is leaving something in the subject line. When subscribing or unsubscribing the software does not take kindly to a "re" or RE in the subject line. Either leave it totally blank or put a period (.) on the line if your software - such as AOL - won't allow you to send out a blank line. For those of you expecting instant replies, but signed up for the digest mode, you will need to unsubscribe to Crosthwaite-D and then subscribe to Crosthwaite-L You cannot be subscribed to both at the same time. Until the list gets larger or busier I suspect we won't need the digest mode. If someone needs to have this changed let me know. It may have been a mistaken subscription in the first place. When you hit "REPLY" the message will go to the individual who sent the message, NOT to the List. If you want the message to go to the list you will need to copy the list name into the address or "to" space - Crosthwaite-L@rootsweb.com There are pros and cons to this, and I've been on both kinds of lists. If you think the answer (or question) is important to a lot of people, and of value for the archived lists, please send the message to the entire list. Perhaps the list was set up for automatic reply to the initial sender was to cut down on accidental personal messages being wafted through the universe, causing embarrassment or irritation. If/when I get messages that I think apply to the entire group I will send them on to the list. I hope the rest of you will keep us in mind if you also get information that might help the rest of us. I can usually be reached at either of my mailing addresses throughout the day, because I check into each one alternately. However, I'll be gone Oct. 1-6, so let's try to get this list going well before then. I might be helpful to send to the list a short lineage of the names you have documented, or are working on. Don't forget to include occasionally. Then others might be able to help, or at least know where you fit it.
