Hi, Bill...I have heard the same thing. But I am stonewalled in Genessee County, New York circa 1800. My ancestor, Charles Cronkright, his sister Mary (Polly), and a brother (perhaps 2 - Daniel & Abraham) came to Michigan from New York, but I can't find out how they came to New York.
