Hello - I''ve just found a "Crank" ancestor, and am hoping to find someone who might have some info on this particular family. My information so far is sketchy, but here goes: Mary Crank, b. about 1786, probably in Russell Co., Va., married a Mr. Hall (probably John) and had a son Daniel (mine) in 1826. Family stories say that Mr. (John) Hall "was one of the first settlers in Cranks Creek, Ky., and married a Crank". A reference in a Russell Co. Court record, c. 1825, refers to a Mary Hall who is the daughter of Abraham Crank and granddaughter of John Crank. This may be the same Mary Hall as above. I plan to obtain the will of John Crank, which is referred to in the court record. I believe Mary Crank Hall died after 1870, probably in Lee Co., Va., but no death record has yet been found.
