Since Oliver was born in Oneida County New York, John must be from the same area. Looking through message boards and other online info, I have come across numerous John Cronks in New York. According to 1860 census, when Oliver and his wife and son were living in Delaware, Iowa, there was a Hiram Cronk living there too. This Hiram was born about 1822 and his wife was Eliza. In the 1850 census, this Hiram was living in Western, Oneida, New York. On the same page of the census, there is a John Cronk listed married to a Selina. This John was born about 1794. I think this John could be the father of Oliver (1828) and Hiram (1822). Does anyone relate to or can identify this John Cronk? I came across an old message board posing by Sue Meinhart that lists a James Cronk(1756) and his children. There is a John Cronk (b. Abt 1795 in Western). According to her posting this John was a brother of the famous Hiram Cronk of 1800 to 1905, last survivor of the war of 1812. Can anyone clarify any of this and if possible, with sources?
