Some have suggested that he is the son of George and Arvilla, however, I am not convinced, at least not this same Samuel. In the 1891 census Huntingdon Hastings ON, Samuel's parents are stated to have been born in the US. Since Arvilla is born in ON I am not convinced that we are looking at the same Samuel. In searching further, I found on the 1851 Census of Northumberland ON, a 61 year old Samuel b. US abt 1790 married to Chatherine also 61 and also born in the US. Indeed old enough to be the parents of Samuel/Eliza. On that same 1851 cencus, listed as sons of Samuel/Catherine b. in Ont Mattius 10, James 7, Byron 5. I assume they also would have older children. Does anyone know of this Samuel and Catherine and their family? or where in the US they were born? or when they entered Canada? I do not know the name of Samuel's (1820) father but am just following a possiblity. Thanks for any h! elp anyone may have.
