Hello, I have just joined this list and thought that the following might be of interest. While researching vital statistics at the Ontario Archives this past week, I copied one birth and 10 marriage certificates of 'Cronks' who were either born or resided in the United States but were married in Ontario. The indexes and documents are found under Record Group 80 (Records of the Office of the Registrar General of Ontario) Currently the records cover the years 1869-1900 for Births; 1869-1915 for Marriages; 1869-1925 for Deaths. Hello, I am new to the maillist and the web! What a goldmine of information! Maybe you can help? I am related to a Lydia Jane CRONK. Lydia was born 5 Apr 1849 in Clark Co. IN. She married 1 Apr 1871 in Neosha Co., KS to James D. SCOTT. She died 2 Dec 1933 in Athelston, Taylor Co., IA. I have her parents as Isaac CRONK and Sara A. DAILEY who were married 29 Mar 1840 in Washington Co., IN. The Census states Isaac was born approximately in 1816 in Virginia. Does anyone have any information concerning this family? Any leads would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you! Mike [email protected]
Hi everyone; I just discovered my Crankheyt/Cronk connection and would love to see this exchange carried out on this list if possible. I ordered 'The Cronk genealogy' by Edward Cronk on microfilm from my FHC and it arrived yesterday (due back April 10). I am going today to look it over. If there is anything from this book I can help anyone with, please let me know. Deby At 03:04 PM 3/19/98 -0500, Dan Wych wrote: >Judy >Carole posted your message to the Cronk listserve. Hi! I am new to the list. I subscribed to the list because I am descendant from Barbara Elizabeth Cronk/Crank and William Monroe Evinger. They were the parents of my Great Grandmother Adeline Evinger born 1881 in Neosho, Missouri. Adeline was one of 12 children, as listed below: James Franklin b. 1868 Sarah Jane 1870 Mary Ellen 1873 Orla Herman 1875 Jacob Leroy 1878 Adeline 1881 Eddie 1881 (twin of Addie/Adeline) Hattie 1884 Effie 1887 Grace Janette 1889 John Thomas 1861 I have more detailed information on each of the children and even their father and his parents, grandparents, etc., but I seem to be looking in all the wrong places for information on Barbara Elizabeth Crank/Cronk. If this sounds familiar to you, please write me and point me in the right direction. I have hit a block here for some reason and I would really appreciate any help you can offer. Hello Cronk lookers!! I'm sure you've seen my postings looking for parents/family to my Clarissa CRONK (born about 1812, married Norman IVES). Many of you have sent info on your CRONKs and I keep all of it! While going through my CRONK mail folder I came on the following from the Vt. Vitals that some kind person sent: Fanny Cronk of Pownal, Bennington Cty, VT, m. Samuel Stewart 10 July 1819 Now.... all by itself, this item from the VR's doesn't mean much. But then I started looking at my database.... Norman and Clarissa (Cronk) IVES had a daughter named Mary Ann (who married Thomas Sears DICKENS). Now, this Mary Ann had some interesting naming conventions for her children. Many of them are named full names of their grandparents, aunts, uncles, ect... Now, we do have a Clara Belle (probably named for Clarissa), we have a William Norman (Norman after Grandpa IVES, William is not known), we have a Norman Ives, a Frank Sears, an Alonzo Milo (Wher'd he come from??), and a Fanny Stewart. When I got to the Fanny Stewart, the alarm bells went off! Pownal, Bennington Cty, Vt. is right on the Mas. border, just north of North Adams (Where Norman and Clarissa lived for a while). My thought is perhaps Mary Ann named her daughter after a favorite aunt (which would be Fanny). So.... mayben I don't have parents yet for Clarissa.... but... I may have a sister!! Does anyone have a Fanny (Fannie) CRONK who marries Samuel Stewart???? Adrennelan's pumpin'!!!! :-) Nan [email protected]
On 7/26/97, 5:05 AM, you posted an email to the CRONK list which displayed: my message to the list 7/25/97, inquiring about Clarissa CRONK, b. 1810, m. Norman IVES, and a line from Nancy Carter Meikle, indicating that she has ".....a Nellie CRONK who married Ashbel CARTER" I hope tht you can recognize (or even look up on your computer) the communication about which I write. I have a print out of it, but my new computer crashed, badly, and I lost everything I had on it. I would have written you sooner, had it not been for that. You indicated in your message that you got the included information from a lady named Janet Hamilton, and wondered if there was any relation to G. (Gordon) Hamilton. No, I do not know Janet Hamilton, but sounds like I ought to. If she should happen to pick up on this communication, (also being sent to the list), I would certainly love to hear from her. Jeremiah CRONK, b. 1782, and m. Philena LEWIS, are definitely my GGGGparents. I have a good photograph of them and a shawl that belonged to Philena. They are buried in Victor, NY in the cemetary behind the ME Church. Their son Lewis W., who was pastor of that church, is also buried there. The information you posted indicates that Jeramiah's father was: Stephen, b. 1756, m. 1781 Caty FREEMAN, and that Stephen's father was: Jacob, b. 4/27/1737, at Philipsburgh; m. 12/4/1755 in Hopewell (NY?), to Ann FERGUSON; "removed to Hoosick where he..." died prior to 10/17/1796. I am not aware of the MACKENZIE files but will definitely inquire. If you can or care to impart any additional information about same, I would be grateful. As you can see, these are my people. You said in your message that you would be ".....glad to send ..... the rest of the ancestry back to Herck". For this I would also be most grateful, and will look forward to receiving same. I am a bit "flustered" over the loss of so much information that I had accumulated on my computer but will work diligently to get it back together as soon as possible, and would be delighted to share any information I have that might be useful to you. I am able to trace 34 generations back to Adam DE BLACKBURNE, late 1000 ad., or early 1100 ad. Best regards, and thanks, Gordon Hamilton [email protected] Louisville, KY
