Author: sehodges7_27 Surnames: Cronk Moses Calder Holmes Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.cronk/524.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am also trying to find out information about the family of Frederick Cronk and Abigail/Emma Moses - specifically their daughter Cordelia/Laura. Did you find out any information about her and about the family line in general? The reason I ask is that my husband's family has a Laura Cronk in their background. She married Edwin (Edward) Allen Calder 24 Dec 1881 in Grand Manan Island and ended up living in Durham, Androscoggin, Maine by 1910. My problem is from this point on. From the 1881 Canadian census data that I have accessed, there were two Laura Cronks living on Grand Manan in 1881, both born circa 1860, and I don't know which one is the one in my husband's line: the daughter of Frederick Cronk and Abigail/Emma Moses or the daughter of Samuel Cronk and Mary Holmes. If you have any information that might help me clear this up, I'd appreciate it. Also, if the Laura Cronk that I'm looking for IS the daughter of Frederick and Abigail/Emma, could you please let me know who Frederick's parents were? I already have the family line of Samuel Cronk, just in case that line is the one that I need. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [Cronk] CRONK Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Cora CRONK which was taken at the Arnold Studio in Olivet, Michigan. The photograph is dated 1 June 1906 with Cora appearing to be in her teens or 20's at the time the photograph was taken. In addition to her name and the date, someone has also written "Levi Cooley" on the back of the photograph as if this is the person to whom the photograph was gifted. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Cora and her family: Cora Almyra GRIFFIN was b. in MI and married Earl Wheeler CRONK (b. about 1883 in MI) about 1905. They had a daughter Charlene L. CRONK b. 22 Mar 1913 in Chester, MI. Census records provide the following information: 1910 census of Bellevue Township, MI: Earl CRONK, age 27, newly married, born MI, parents born NY, a Farmer Corra CRONK, wife, age 23, newly married, no children, born MI, parents born OH/MI Living directly next door to Henry & Jessie CRONK and family 1920 census of Kalamo, MI: Earl W. CRONK, age 37, born MI, parents born MI, a Farmer Cora A. CRONK, wife, age 38, born MI, parents born MI Doma V. CRONK, dau, age 8, born MI Charlene L. CRONK, dau, age 6, born MI Verdan G. CRONK, son, age 4 years + 1 Month, born MI 1930 census of Kalamo, MI: Earle W. CRONK, age 47 Cora A. CRONK, age 43, b. 1887 in MI, parents born OH/MI Dorma V. CRONK, age 18 Charlene L. CRONK, age 17 Verdon G. CRONK, age 15 I am hoping to locate someone from this CRONK Family so that the photograph can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

Her father, Arthur Cronk, was born about 1888 in Kansas. He married a Marie and lived in Missouri. According to 1920 and 1930 census, they lived in Dale, Missouri. I was told they had 14 children, however I only have 7, but I also know some children either died in childbirth or infancy. I also don't know how many are still surviving, aside from my grandmother. I do know one of her brothers passed away in 2002. At some point, most of the family lived in or near Ada, OK. I remember flying out there with my mom and grandmother when I was 4 and meeting that side of the family. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I've recently discovered I'm the g-g granddaughter of Francis M. Haley who was born in Fayette County in 1838. Although I've been able to identify what I believe to be a few of his sibilings, I've never been able to determine who his parents were or the names of the other siblings, which I believe to be sisters. I would really appreciate any information you have to share. Thank you. Vicki Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: MattRiessen Surnames: Cronk Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.cronk/571.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Found Oliver's Death Record and his father was John Cronk born in New York. Since Oliver was born in Oneida County New York, John must be from the same area. Looking through message boards and other online info, I have come across numerous John Cronks in New York. According to 1860 census, when Oliver and his wife and son were living in Delaware, Iowa, there was a Hiram Cronk living there too. This Hiram was born about 1822 and his wife was Eliza. In the 1850 census, this Hiram was living in Western, Oneida, New York. On the same page of the census, there is a John Cronk listed married to a Selina. This John was born about 1794. I think this John could be the father of Oliver (1828) and Hiram (1822). Does anyone relate to or can identify this John Cronk? I came across an old message board posing by Sue Meinhart that lists a James Cronk(1756) and his children. There is a John Cronk (b. Abt 1795 in Western). According to her posting this John was a brother of the famous Hiram Cronk of 1800 to 1905, last survivor of the war of 1812. Can anyone clarify any of this and if possible, with sources? I have reached Oliver Cronk who was born in Oneida Co., New York according to 1855 NY State Census. He had a wife Sophia and son Charles, (my 2x great grandfather). There seem to be a lot of Oliver Cronks, (popping up in Michigan, Nebraska, and Canada. But all census records point him to being born in New York around 1828-1832. Would like to know anything about him. And especially his parents names. (They were born in New York also) His son Charles ended up dying in Missouri and I found a Death Certificate of an Oliver Cronk in Missouri who was born in New York. At the time of death, he was married to a Miranda who was about 20 years younger than him. It also mentions that this Oliver Cronk's father's name was a John Cronk who was born in New York. Unknown mother listed. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
