Author: ruchel Surnames: Bort, Millis, Millious Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.cronk/312.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm interested in the Millious family. Margaret Millious married Daniel N. Bort in Wampsville, Lenox, Madison, NY in 1835. They lived in Onondaga and Oswego in the 1840s before moving to Illinois. Julia Ann Bort married William H. Millis about the same time, an heir of Lewis Millious; they lived in Oswego, NY. There is also a widow Christine Millious of Lenox, Madison, NY who bought land in Lenox in 1833. Trying to connect Margaret to some family of Millious. Any help would be appreciated. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Maybe that was what was written on his military paperwork. None of the census add up: Census Age Birthplace Birthyear 1870 53 OH 1817 1860 44 OH 1816 1850 28 TN 1812 Here is my question... Is it possible that American Cronk changed his name to "American" Cronk after the Mexican American war. So far I have been unable to find anything about American Cronk until his discharge of the service. Maybe he went in as another name. Just a thought..... Elizabeth Haley is buried at Haley Chapel Cemetery, United Methodist Church out side of Bluff City, IL. If you are talking about American Cronk that was married to Elizabeth Haley, he is buried in Forbis Cemetery, Fayette County, IL. As far as the Haley Cemetery, I have spoken and written to the caretaker of the records and asked for a listing of all that is buried there. When I was there last summer, many were hard to read, knocked down or turned over. I took pictures of what I could. I am waiting for a response from the caretaker. I also have a pic of American Cron at Forbis Cemetery. Diane Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. This proof of Albertus' birth date confirms that most likely the John 1743 is correct and John 1767 is definitely wrong. Now I just need to find out who John's father was. Abraham 1741 is not possible, so is Abraham the brother of John, or maybe his cousin? Anyone with documentation / source information on John 1743 and his parents? I have found the babtism record in Sleepy Hollow DNRC for Abraham 1741, son of Theunis, but nothing for John. The Blake, Cronk and other UEL families left New York and settled in Ontario. Author: bowlerfamily Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.cronk/222.5.2.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: There are some mistakes in this line for sure! I have John Cronk, father of Hannah born in 1743 and his father Abraham born in 1741 - this does not work either! I'm glad someone else has seen that there are problems in this line - everyone just seems to accept the information as fact and ignores the dates. If John was born in 1743, then Abraham could be his brother or cousin, but NOT his father. If John was born in 1763, then Albertus could be his nephew or the birthdate for Albertus is wrong. Also, look at the birthdate for Martha, 1743, it is possible, but not likely that he married someone 20 years older. Is there ANYONE out there who has documentation / source information of the correct birthdate and correct parents of John Cronk? Author: SANDYC Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.cronk/523.1.1.1.2.1.2.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Debbie, I ran across your post about your Cronk family and it does not appear that we connected. I tried to email you the following early in 2009. I currently have a MyFamily.com website for my husband's Cronk/Krank family. Our line of Cronk's ties back to Johann Adam Krank who emigrated to America in 1752. Most of the family changed their names to "Cronk" as they moved from Pennsylvania into Virginia, and elsewhere; but one family retained the spelling of "Kronk" and stayed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. We have documentation that takes us back to the 1500's in Hasselberg and Hasloch and Wertheim, Germany. We also have documentation showing when Johann Adam and others from that area left for America, they sailed up the Rhine River to Amsterdam and left from there. We recently started a DNA project to test 4 of our USA cousins and 3 who are living in Germany. The 12-marker tests for the 4 from the USA are positive matches on all 12 markers. Two in Germany (tested for 37 markers initially) are one marker off which indicates they are "possibly related." A third in Germany is not relationship to either of the others. We upgraded two of our USA cousins to 37 markers and there is a 99% probability that the two German participants are related. Is any of this of interest to you and do you think there is a possibility that you might connect to this line of Cronk's?
