    3. Derek, Which aspect are you following? I understand that after the sinking of HMS Prince of Wales the surviving marines were drafted into a unit of the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders to take part in the defence of Singapore, and were then taken prisoner on the fall of Singapore. They were referred to as the "Plymouth Argyles" as Prince of Wales was a Devonport ship. A few years later I served with a seaman survivor of Prince of Wales who had been drafted to another RN ship in the area. If you want further info there are a lot of experts on the World War 2 mailing list worldwar2@rootsweb.com. 3. Derek Do you know where his home town was?. I have a Peers Crompton but a generation earlier. Peers is an unusual name, but our lot was quite religious and if I remember rightly Peers Crompton was a former minister at Deane Church, Bolton; our local parish.
