Hello Doug, A follow up from my request and subsequent help regarding Ann CROMPTON, born Spain, 1844: She was baptised Felipa Antonia CROMPTON at Santa Maria Magdalena in Vallalgordo Del Jucar, Albacete. I have just found the following on the net. Her father Richard was a papermaker and I wondered why the family would have gone from Dinting in Derbyshire to Spain. I think that the following answers that question. By the way there are another two CROMPTON females born in Spain in the 1881 census - Margaret and Mary Ann. Perhaps this was a reason for their family being there also. As youcan see there was also a spinning mill so I wonder how many others were recruited from Derbyshire to work there.
