Hi Listers To all those who responded to my cry for help about 'Clara' - a big THANK YOU. After a lot of searching I have the answer - it was a proper name, and have located her. The reason why I couldn't find her is that I was searching LancsBMD/FreeBMD under the name of my g/uncle Tom DUERDEN. I eventually found a marriage under Tom DURDEN married to Clara BLACKWELL - rather later than I expected. I will have to spend the evening with my feet up - very sore from kicking myself !!
