    3. Hello Doug, Richard CROMPTON and Mary CASTLE were the ancestors of my husband. Richard was born in 1819 at Glossop, Derbyshire and died in 1848 at Hayfield, Derbyshire. In the 1841 census he is at Chapel en le Frith, Glossop, 20, papermaker. Cause of death: fever not certified. Mary was born 1817 at Glossop, Derbyshire. There is a death on Freebdm which might be her: 1891 Hayfield age 74. Apart from 1841 census she is a widow in the others to 1891 and always at Dinting, Glossop, Derbyshire. Their marriage certificate in 1840 at All Saints, Marple, gives Richard CROMPTON, papermaker, of Marple. Father: John CROMPTON, papermaker and Mary CASTLE of Marple. Father: Jonathon CASTLE, labourer. John CROMPTON, born 1788/1790, Boulton, Lancs married Sarah TAYLOR, born 1799, Manchester, in 1817 at Middleton by Oldham. These marriage details are from IGI and have not been verified by me. To answer your question: I haven't come across Mary CASTLE being Mary Anne but this doesn't mean that she wasn't although I would have thought that her marriage certificate would have shown her full name. I hope that someone is able to look in on Ancestry Worldwide and can find the details of the birth of Felipa Antonia (CROMPTON). This is how her name is shown in the index.
